BF % for the various competitions
Hey guys and gals. I have a newbie competition question...I know it varies person to person, but I was wondering what an average body fat % is for certain types of competitions. Namely, fitness/figure and fitness model/swimsuit competitions. Thanks!

I don't know if there is an avg. Every body is different. Some girls look good at 12%, some girls need to get leaner to have a stage ready body.

Dont worry about a certain number worry more about what you look like that is what you will be judged on.

Just remember, totally new to the competition thing
I know it's a gray area...I was just hoping I could get some kind of range...so I have an idea for setting my goals. Of course, once I get within the range I can tweek it higher or lower depending on how it fits my body. Unfortunately, noone I know at my gym is familiar or even interested in competing. So I really have no guidence.

I have posted similar questions in the past -- I know you are just hoping for a quantative goal for your first comp - I felt the same. BUt honestly, eveyone looks different at the same bf%, also which comp are you doing? Each org rewards IMO at times, completely different looks.
Run a search within the BB site on the topic and you may find the answers you are looking for
Good Luck

Don't worry about a specific number. The best thing to do is measure the sites and make sure they are all going down. Get to a point that you think looks best for you. Every show will have different judges and you cannot fit the bill for every show. Be consistent.
