I'm not sure if this varies from state to state but what percentage is taken out of your paycheck total due to taxes wherever YOU live?

my pay packet varies quite a bit. when i earn little in a week i dont get taxed much at, usually as little as 10%. in weeks where i earn more (say around $400 AUD, thats good for me) as much as 25% could be taken out. im sure there is some system that works it out, but i just go with the flow.shut up and play yer guitar...and lift

picking up every one of them... "Mr. and Mrs. America, turn 'em all in,
"I would have done it. I could not do that. The votes weren't here."

FYI she had a Concealed Carry Permit because she fears being attacked.

Styleee, You are probably claiming Single and 0 dependants on your W-4. It's not how much witholding you have taken out of your check, but how much you pay or get back when you file your taxes.
I had a lot of taxes taken out of my paycheck this last year 2004. I claimed Single and 3 dependents. Dumb on my part giving the State & Fed an interest free loan.
Since my wife didn't work in 2004 & I had lots of deductions & credits, I only paid an Effective Federal Tax Rate of 3.24%. And yes, I have already spent my refund on new gym equipment. I have not done my state taxes yet (California has a maximum tax rate of 9.3%), but it will probably be under 1%.
