Skipping Around Town
Just curious if anyone else feels this way about the female forums
I have only come in here a few times cuz when i post or read about things i just go to New Posts --- NOT TODAY... I have been very interested in the stuff that has been typed in the female forums - looking for ways to change myself, maybe doing things different than I have been.
My one gripe is just when I think i have found some good information - it is usually a guy posting -- like looking for the womens workout routines etc..... I am really getting frustrated with it - I know it is only my first day surfing in here but it is kind of bothering me. Anyone else feel that way - maybe a mod could set up a VIP womens room where you need the password to post --- or maybe not.
OPINIONS?!?!

The Smith Machine Sucks
It's a public forum, I don't think it would be right to pick and choose who would come to it.
Many of of the men that post her do it by mistake (I still haven't figured out how they make the mistake, but thats doesn't matter). As long as someone is being helpful, or asking a legitimate question, I don't see any problems with men posting here as well.

Most of us guys click the "New Posts" link on the top. If a topic seems interesting, we click the topic and read through the post without reading what section it belongs in. We don't ACTIVELY (not the most of us at least) go into the female bodybuilding section just to see what's going on.

Iron Doll
I added a separate Men's area to my forum to include men's training, nutrition, cardio, etc. The ladies didn't like it at all, since male and female training is the same. The only difference is hormones.
Most guys are helpful. Just learn to sift through information and keep an open mind. We usually delete posts shouldn't be here.

I just find it irritating that when a girlfriend/wife/mother/sister wants to find information and a male does the research and asking for her. It's great of the males to try to help....but I think the females should take the initiative and ask themselves.

Squats are my Friend
I don't just post in the female section~I would be pretty upset if the guys tried to shoo me back here!
I don't mind at all that guys post here.I have gotten great helps from guys offering suggestions. I don't care who helps me out. I just appreciate the help.
I do agree that it's better for whoever is wanting help post their own questions.
It's the "my girlfriend wants to tone up in a few areas but not get big muscles" posts that drive me nuts.
they got out the car, first chick came up with a bottle and i got it off her, second chick smashed bottle on my face resulting in lights out for her
the guy came up and punched me in the right eye, which also resulted in lights out.
he got in his car, ran over my mates brother
I got home and shaved me head.....
.....I GOT HOME AND SHAVED ME HEAD.....

I'm with you LadyStarlight. If a woman is looking for info but doesn't know where to begin I'd applaud her guy for pointing her in the right direction & giving encouragement. But doing all the legwork for someone else? Motivation can't be injected like a shot of B-12.

No I dont feel that way at all.
I just get irritated by the redundancy of the questions. Like womens workout routines etc..

I get irritated when men jump in with bad advice: "Do light weights, 20-25 reps"...blah, blah, blah. "Just do some bicep curls and hip abductors and then you'll look hot." Grrrrr..... Several men have good advice to give, but their are also a lot of ignorant fools. Such is life.

I came here for two reasons as a personal trainer I train women so it is good to get the perspective of experienced women and observe their progress. It helps because of the two different goals of men and women. The second most important reason is because my Wife is going to be trying to get in better shape and I wanted to see if there was any inspiration she could gleam from these boards. If some guy comes in here and gives bad advice then chew him out that way the newbies won't listen to them.
Signs that advice may be bad
5)says babes, honey's chicks
4)reads like a medical thesis
3)mentions women should only use high reps so they wont bulk up
2)focus on getting down to a certain weight (as if she is training for a boxing match.
1)mentions the word tone
I would neg rep them because these a basic simple things that an experienced knowledgeable trainer wouldn't say.

I'm not a female, but I am interested in female fitness. I like the slower pace of this forum, and find plenty of great information here. I really like and respect the regular posters here, and their experiences.
I also hope that I'm helpful when I do post.
These are the main reasons I post here.
I recently purchased the power rack at Sams and now my wife actually squats! I might not have had the inspiration to get that equipment if it hadn't been for this forum.
Thanks ladies!

This is a very large message board so you are going to get alot of bad advice along with the good. You just have to sift through it.

What exactly are the two different goals of women and men?
Why would your wife not read the boards herself for inspiration?

I don't mind if they stay on subject
I don't like the " Your HOT post more pics " crap. But if someone has good advise to add I'll read it. If a guy wants to come in here and pick up some help, I'm cool with it. Sure you do see the same question a lot but no one makes you read them, and what else is the board for if not to help others. I know I learn somthing new all the time by reading post. Thanks JDS

My pet peeve are the posts that start out, "Asking a question for my wife" or "I need help with my gf's diet" etc. Why doesn't the wife or girfriend just come here and post for herself? Or at least read the boards and get answers that way. I bet you never see a woman posting that she needs help for her boyfriend!

Some women aren't into posting stuff on the Internet. I married one of them.

My wife never goes on the internet, so as a good husband I try to help her out the best I can. Plus I put the seat down at night. What more can you ask?

The men are welcome here provided they are showing respect, not being negative and not asking for personal advice.
A lot of the men give good advice. Anyone giving good advice and not trashing our forum with "do high reps or you'll get big" garbage is welcome.

But a lot of men still don't realize we can use their routines. We woman all know that lifting principles don't change over gender and wouldn't bother asking for advice for our men.
You just need to be patient and hope we can make a difference in the ignorance level.

Are you posing the question becuse you really want to help or trying to trap me. I guess I can word it different. Women and men use different language to talk to each other. As a trainer I thought it would be great to observe and learn some of it because it would help with clients. If you don't get it then O.K.
If she read the forums I wouldn't have said it. Go Figure!?!
