Stretched skin on tummy
Hi Ladies, anyone else struggling like myself with a bit of loose skin left on the tummy from multiple pregnancies. My youngest was born when I was 31 and my belly never 'bounced back' like it did after the other births.
I went down to 48 kilos at one stage but still had the loose skin in the lower abdomen. At the moment my abs are reasonable but I could use some advice, tips...reassurance...? lol that this loose skin is treatable (pref without surgery!)
Hoping to hear from others who have been through this, many thanks.

You might have to consider surgery.
Here is a link
http://www.yourplasticsurgeryguide.com/tummy-tuck/
they also talk about abdominal etching.

I was actually considering posting on this subject. Yes, I have issues with this. I have had 4 babies, my youngest being 4 1/2 now. Although I am happy with the progress I have made on my abs, that little bit of loose skin is bothersome. I still have some more bodyfat I could lose and I am hoping that will make a difference. Otherwise, it will just be something that I will have to live with because plastic surgery is not an option for me. Kinds kills the hopes of wanting to compete someday (for me that is).

I have the same problem, runs in the family, sadly it's genetics. I've tried everything except surgery. When I compete I use Preperation-H, it helps a lot but it's very temporary. The judges always lower my scores because of it, no matter how ripped my abs and obliques are. It makes me mad!

Well, sort of
Ok, I'm not going to have that problem from being preggers but I'm already seeing loose belly skin from a 35lb. weight loss...and that still leaves another 30lbs. to go. It's very disconcerting

If anybody starts petitioning for a rule change in this regard, you'll have my signature! I think this should definitely be taken into consideration.
There's no competition great enough to trump childbirth!

Sucks, doesn't it? It does apparently tighten up for most people, so there is hope. Just remember, though, that it is better than filling it back up with blubber.

I had a thought around the same lines today. Even though my stomach did bounce back after both kids, it hasn't bounced back since I lost 20lbs. I know I have more bodyfat to loose but the skin is still hanging. Being stretchmark city doesn't help either. (being thin at the begining of both pregnancies didn't help this any)
I was wondering if anyone had done research into stomach fat. I know you can't spot reduce, it has to be an all over thing. I was wondering why the stomach fat seems to be the last to go. Why is it so hard to get rid of and is there anything extra that can be done to help loose it. Is there something diet specific?
You would think since the skin is the largest organ and you can actually touch it that there would be something that we could do to make it healthy again. All the water, vitamin E and lotions in the world won't make it snap back.

I HATE my ab area There is a TON of loose skin from an 80-lb weight loss, and I have crappy genetics, and I know it's not stretching back
I know I am going to see my friendly neighborhood plastic surgeon after I drop the last 35 lbs or so. I am now taking donations

It depends on the surgeon and area. Expect it to be between $6-10K + anethesia and other fees.

I was thin too! It's the elasticity of the skin and it gets worse with age, trust me. My friend had 3 kids not a mark on her, I had 1 and I'm stretch mark city too. As I have gotten older the loose skin has gotten worse, my friend all of a sudden when she turned 40 started with the loose skin. Thinking we better start saving for the Tummy tuck....lol

Loose Skin and Fascia stretch with pregnancy and sometimes only recover so much. Some women can have many children and still have tight skin. For others, the first child can really distort the stomach. How well the skin recovers depends on the size of the baby, weight added, nature of skin, elastic tissues, stretch mark signs of damaged tissues, how you heal, and many other factors. Being patient is very valuable as for most, the skin does contract.
After Pregnancy, Plastic Surgery can help tighten tissues. For the stomach solutions depend on the degree of the problem. Check out the before and after pictures and movies of my Tumescent Tummy Tuck, to learn about options.
Hope this helps,
Michael Bermant, MD

Count me in the saggy belly skin club. (And in fact, the saggy belly club.) Not from pregnancy but from yo-yo dieting. I'm hoping that as I lose weight this time that doing it slowly will give my skin the best chance of adjusting. But I'm very mindful that the weight must stay off this time as I ain't getting any younger and there's only so much skin products can do
The one time I competed I used Prep H and it did work but I don't see it as a long-term solution. I'm more resigned to live with it, surgery is something I would never consider. Not just cos I could never afford it but it also scares the bejezus out of me

oh you bet!! Two kids...220 at the tops of both pregnacies - you can bet I had and have skin! but it has gotten better...
That being said - and I am only going to say this once...here. I have had surgery. I had a mini tuck a few years ago to get rid of some skin - I opted not for a full tuck because I didn't want my belly button rebuilt..was really afraid of it looking too strange. If I regret anything about the surgey - it was not going for the full tuck because I still have some skin, stretch marks and marks around belly button ...I look ok standing tall...but bend over and lookout...and GOOD LORD do not do pushups in a sports bra!!! AGGHH!! (gives new meaning to "don't look down!") When I bend over, my daughter calls my belly "the old man face" bleh.
BTW It's kind of painful and my skin is moderatly numb from just below the belly button to my incision (like a c-section scar). But I do not regret the surgery one bit...eventhough I still have skin - it's so much better than the flap that was just hanging.
Good luck to all!
Cheers!
