If my protein shake already has BCAAs, is it necessary for me to take any more amino acids separately?

EAA's(essential amino acids) and BCAA's are totally diferent things. Your protien shake will have a good amino acid profile, which will include both. If you are bulking, you will more than likely get plenty amino acids from your diet.
If on the other hand you are dieting, this is where added BCAA's can be beneficial. Especially when calories become at a premium. BCAA's are (branched chain amino acids leucine, isoleucine, and valine). When under extreme dieting, they may aid by lessening the catabolic (breaking down) effect of muscle tissue.
