??
Is that close to Toronto? If not what is the major city you are close to and I'll see if I can help you out.
My buddies and I have started "TEAM BARBARIAN" which a group of strongman trainers. We work out every Sunday on the actual implements like farmers walk, atlas stone, sled drag and arm over arm, tire flip etc etc etc at our compound which we call THE STRONGHOLD right downtown here in TO.
We are looking for "serious" strongmen to join up and train with us. It looks like Ryan Green may be training with us from time to time

It seems all the gyms i come across are commercial ones like lifestyles, goodlife, extreme fitness, platinum fitness etc etc... which dont seem like great places to get started in powerlifting i am new at this but where are these friggin gyms you guys talk about with chains, bands, boards and guys benching 400 plus pounds???

not a chain gym like goodlife and golds. but its not a hardcore gym.
everything is pretty good except no power racks, no squaters that even hit parallel, a few weak deadlifters, but ive seen a few 400lb benches.
theres a 10.5 inch box at my gym tho which is surprising

Iron Man
You still didn't say where you live?
The best gym I've been to in Toronto is Adrenalin on Dufferin street, which is where I train. Some serious lifters in there and some great equipment too. Quite a few guys regularly use multipule "plates" for many of the power lifts. There was a guy in there the other day t-bar rowing 9 plates!!! Some good squaters, deadlifters, benchers etc and cheap memberships to boot.

Lifts?
Iron Man - what are lifts at now, no lying
The reason I'm asking is that we train strongman events every Sunday here in TO which is about 40 mins away from you. If you think you ever want to meet TEAM BARBARIAN and come check the place out let me know? But like I said your lifts need to be up there to train on these events. At least a 400 pound deadlift and very strong grip!

I'm definately not powerful enough to train with you guys yet lol like i said i am really just trying to get started somehow in powerlifting but my stats are as follows (don't laugh):
Weight:140-150 lbs... i eat so much when bulking up its hard to tell how much i weigh
Bench- 235x1
Deadlift-305x1
Squat-315x1

Just keep at it!
Those lifts aren't bad at all considering your body weight. And once you find a good gym and start power lifting/strength training your lifts will shoot up quick and so will your weight. How old are you? Just asking cause if your on the younger side you'll have an advantage as you're still releasing lots of test and growth horomone. If you're older, don't worry. I'm 34 and just came back from a 4-5 year lay off. My body weight's up to 275 and my lifts are getting up there too all in only 7 months of serious lifting. The key is to eat every 2-3 hours and take in lots of protein + glutamine, creatine, a good multi, extra C, omega 3-6-9 fatty acids and I personally like ZMA. You need to be prepared with your diet so you can recover nicely once you start training heavier!!!
Anyhow, find that gym and keep eating loads of protein, carbs and clean fats
Good luck and PM me if you need any advice OK

any powerlifting gyms in mississauga/905 area?
Maybe it's hatred I spew, maybe it's food for the spirit
Maybe it's beautiful music I made for you to just cherish
But I'm debated disputed hated and viewed in America
as a motherf**kin drug addict - like you didn't experiment?
Now now, that's when you start to stare at who's in the mirror
and see yourself as a kid again, and you get embarrased
And I got nothin to do but make you look stupid as parents
You f**kin do-gooders - too bad you couldn't do good at marriage!

At Dundas and Carlaw there is a gym just south called Fortis Fitness, it is by far the best gym I have ever been to, they are mostly strength training, so there are tons of squat racks and deadlift pads, they also have strongman equipment, logs and farmer handles etc, with a weight sled. 24 hours/365 days a year. check it out if you live in Toronto
