I am in Zabul province SE Afghan. 7 years Air force, 5 years Army. If I was younger, would try Navy next (the trident guys have some cool toys). Earned my maroon beret at 42 years old. Been contracting in SWA for about 6 years, two left to go. I install and maintain the SPAWAR M-dub cafes you probably use to visit this site.
This skinny 53 year old "wanna be" has just now discoverd the gym and its benefits.
If you find yourself at FOB Lagman, Qalat, Afghan, Ask Mike (he runs the gym) if I am around. Got some high speed Inet and a cup of coffee to share.
Safe travels, Dan

Shout to all of you currently deployed. I was army infantry in Iraq in 04-05, sucks that we still have so many soldiers away from their friends and families. Stay safe!

What kind of gym do you have? I know the feeling, I always stayed in shape before but never really lifted seriously until recently. I got tired of coming back the same shape that I left. So far been hitting the gym hard and having fun with it. By now I know pretty much all the lifters at this camp because I see them every day. If you keep going to work out you should find people to work out with. Good luck.

We face an aggressive enemy that embraces a radical ideology that would bring an end to our way of life if given the opportunity. The increased violence is an attempt to lessen our resolve and that of the Iraqi people. But these attempts are destined to fail.
