liability is damn near nothing. I have state farm (newer bike) with full coverage and $250 deductibles in california and pay 45ish a month. liability would be far less

I'm 30 and pay $40 a month full coverage on a 03 GSXR-600. It's going to be higher for someone under 25. Go with State Farm though for sure. They go by cc's not by class.

I was 24 when I got my bike. It was still pretty cheap (although I do have my car insurance through them also and get a huge good driver discount as well as multiple policy discount)
2004 yzf-600r here. And honestly dont get liability. Get the best bike insurance you can afford. What happens if you go down and its your own fault and get wrecked hardcore. whos gonna pay the bills from it? Your medical insurance wont pick it all up. Or get AFLAC

thanks for all the responses. i tried out a few online quotes, seems under my dads name at progressive you can get liability only for 124 a year or at geico for 121 a year. so if the bike is registered under his name and the insurance is under his name will i need to add me as a co-driver to be covered? when i add myself as a secondary owner geico's goes to like 280 and progressives to only 180, which still isnt bad i just wanted to know if it was neccessary. also im going to try and find a loan that does not require comprehensive/collision coverage when you are financing a bike but im unsure how to go about doing so

The one thing you have going for your it's under 750cc the bad part is it is a sports bike and your under 21 so it's going to cost you bro good luck.

Good luck. Most require full coverage.

really? damn... im hoping our bank could do it because my dad has been with them for a long time and has virtually the best credit that you can possibly have. if they require full coverage then thats fine as well as long as it can go only under my dads name and i dont have to be insured as a co-owner, because if thats the case insurance is through the roof.
edit: i saw something on capitalones website about a blank check auto loan, sounds like you basically apply (my dad would apply) and i get the check to spend on any car/bike for the next 45 days, and once its signed i begin making the payments. sounds like something that it approved before you even find your vehicle wouldnt require full insurance coverage, dunno
edit2: nevermind, it seems a valid loan amount is between 7500 and 100,000, but then again it does say that if you do not spend all that is on the blank check then you are not charged, although i dont know if that means to the minimum of 7500

What happens when/if you actually wreck it? Like just drop it on its side in a parking lot or slide off the road and actually get hurt? Lose money out of work due to injury wrecked bike that you still owe $$ on that your insurance isn't going to cover. Wasted money on riding gear.
If you are trying to find the cheapest insurance you can through another persons name liability only, then finance 100% on a new bike that you might have trouble getting the loan for due to the coverage it sounds like maybe you should rethink getting a bike for a few years or buy some $2000 used bike for now.
The best advice I ever got for a motorcycle was to:
1) always ride like you are invisible and noone ssees you there
2) get the most insurance you can afford and if its liability dont buy a bike.
3) Get aflac accident insurance

i dont know exactly how bike insurance works, unlike a car, if say my dad puts liability and collision/comprehensive on it under his name and i wreck it it is not covered, correct? and the reason why i said liability only is because liability is 120 a year on the bike, if i register me as a driver then it goes to around 1100 per year. i can get this bike for just over, or on, 4000. to me it sounds entirely stupid to pay in insurance in around 4 years more than what the bike is worth, for a wreck that may and probably will not ever happen (or atleast to an intensity beyond say, a drop or skip) and at that price the deductable is still 500/1000 dollars. entirely not worth it in my opinion, unless it can all go on my dads name (i live at the same address) which would put it around 360 a year.

let me answer this with an example: I got a quote on insurance on a '05 750 gsxr, I have one wreck (nofault), one charge of defective equipment, good gRades discount, multivehicle discountand the price if paid in full up front for 6 months full coverage was 675.00 through auto owners. my vr4 insurance (full coverage, 500.00 deductible ) however is 1685.00/ 6 months with same discounts. aka motorcycle insurance is effin cheap. /thread
edit: don't spend more than 4k on your first bike you'll lay it down most likely. plus you can get a decent older (90's) bike for under 2k which easily attainable

i am paying like 840 a year for full coverage that includes uninsured motorist. I have a driving with a suspended license on my record. If it wasn't for that then it would be cheaper. For liability it would have been like 200 a year.

are you serious. that's about 100/month for full coverage. that's f*cking cheap considering my car insurance is about 300/month. liability would be half I would think.

I paid around $200 a year for liability only on an 04 R1. You have to wreck pretty bad once every two years to make full coverage worth it on a bike, and if you wreck that bad, the bike is the least of the worries. Carry good health insurance... wear good gear, including boots - last thing you want is a fused ankle.

^^ yeh i completely agree, full coverage on collision not worth it a bit. just sucks you have to have it on loans, makes it that much harder.
