Running Shoes
I am constantly changing my workout so that I don't get bored exercising. Yesterday i decided I wanted to go outside and talk a walk to enjoy the beauty weather that we were having in Minnesota.
Anyway while I was walking around the lake I decided that I wanted to start running. I was feeling great not tired at all I think that I could have ran the entire 3.10 miles around the lake; however my feet started to kill me.
Okay...sorry about all the details anyway. My main question is does anyone have a good suggestion for running shoes?? I am looking for something that is lightweight but comfortable to wear that wouldn't hurt the bottoms of my feet.
If anyone has any suggestions that would be great. And if you also know the price range on the shoe that would be appreciated as well.

the best advice i can give to you is to go to a specialty running store. they will tell you what kind of arch you have and recommend the best type of shoe for you

Huge bump to above.... different shoes for different feet. I personally love my Asic Kayanos (on my 4th pair!) but they may not suit someone with a different foot size and arch. Do not go to your average sports store. I got mine from a specialty store staffed by podiatrists and physios who assess your running style and gait.

I'm SO looking forward to running. That will probably be my cardio of choice once my body is able to handle it. Right now I'm too heavy, and my body is not able to handle the physical demands.

I am going to have to find out where there is a specialty running store in Minnesota. I went running this morning and it went okay with the shoes I have but I know that it could feel better.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Having the right shoes makes a world of difference. I am in Canada and go to the Running Room to be fitted for shoes for both long walks and my running (just started running in May). I overpronate so if I don't have the correct shoes, my joints can get pretty sore. I got two different pairs and I alternate them.
The sales person should have you walk and assess your gait as well as check the shoes you are wearing for the wear pattern. I spent close to an hour picking the first pair and went back a month later and picked up my second choice as I was often running on two consecutive days. The clerk brough out at least 10 pairs of shoes that were the right category for my feet and then it was a matter of choosing the pair that best fit my foot - width of toe box and heal.

See if there is a Fleet Feet in your area - Fleet Feet is a national chain of stores and I'm pretty sure there is one in MN.

Yeah there are a couple Fleet Farm in Minnesota. The ones that I can think of are really not that super close to me. I would have never thought to go there to get specialty shoes. Maybe I will have to check it out sometime.
Now that you mean the Running Room I think that I have driven by one but I don't remember where I was. I will probably have to google that one.

You need to get a shoe that suits your gait. I have a neutral gait and high arch, so I get a shoe that suits me based on that.
It may help to read this:

but you'll be better off to go to a specialty running store, as suggested, and have them watch you walk/run and analyze your gait.
