Diet Pop
Hi everyone, I haven't done keto in about 2 years and have been clean bulking. I've become accustomed to drinking diet pop.
So I'm wondering if diet pop affects your state of ketosis?
Thanks.

Diet Pepsi does not affect my state of Ketosis, I have checked myself with the strips after drinking and they still show up pink.

Would you care to explain as to why you think it may be affecting your rate of weight loss? Is it the sodium?
Thanks

just past experience drinking lots of water vs. having pop in the diet is all... sodium in diet soda is nothing to worry about ...
also possible insulin spiking.
diet soda really helps sometimes even if it probably sucks for u.

i suggest you search for pop on here as i did, and came to the conclusion its not up to other ppl that it is per person. Alot of ppl mentioned diet pops anda specific chemical in it , that took them out of keto..so i tested it. and i got out of ketosis. so then i read that alot of ppl was able to drink coke zero. so i tried drinking 1 or 2 cans a night after a long days work and i was fine. (all with 1-2 gallons of water). but then i quit one of my jobs and was drinking up to 4-5 cans a day, and i was getting kicked out of ketosis. so now i know i can only drink 1 maybe 2 cans a day. hope this helps.
oh etc. on the weekends i down a 2leter =P

hmmm, interesting... See I don't want to get flamed for what I'm about to say but I use aas and theres a method where by using insulin you can get into ketosis in one day. Well yesterday I tried this method and at the end of the day drank a diet sprite not really thinking about it. Than I went and tested my urine for keytones and there were none.
So I was quite confused and the only reason I could think of not being in ketosis at this time would be the diet soda.
Anyways, from what some of you have said it looks like different diet soda's may kick you out of ketosis so I guess I'll just have to stick to water =\
Thanks to everyone that helped. I'll try to rep you all.

That method you tried, was it the first time you tried it? Also, did you check you were in ketosis before you drank the Sprite? I guess I'm saying is it possible that it wasn't the pop - maybe what you tried just didn't work?
I've been wondering about pop too. My fave is Pepsi Max Twist. However, I checked the label this week and it contains citric acid, which I believe we should avoid like the plague. If anyone can explain the citric acid thing in simple language I (and no doubt many other pop drinkers) will be eternally grateful
Brian! Who are all those people outside?
I don't know mother, they just .... popped by.
Popped by?! Swarmed by more like!

I read in one of the posts that citric acid is not a problem, I believe it was from Jamie. Furthermore I drink Diet Pepsi after (almost) every meal; In the beginning I started to test myself (with Ketosticks) right after drinking pepsi and an hour later, I was never kicked out of Ketosis. I just verified the ingredients on Diet Pepsi and it does contain citric acid as well.
After much reading I have realized that soda and Keto are dependant on the individual: Some are kicked out and others are not.

yes it was the first time I tried this method. But when one uses 10 iu's of insulin in a day while consuming under 10g carbs they should be into extreme ketosis at the end of the day.

I've gone through long periods of drinking 12 Diet Dr. Peppers per day to drinking 1 per week and can honestly say I noticed no difference at all. As of now I'm drinking about 12 per day.
turkey, beef, fish, chicken, whey, eggs, celery, broccoli, almonds, and some cheese== those keto diets are dangerous aren't they.
