New Physical Freak in NFL

Vernon Davis, 49ers Tight End. This guy is a total freak of nature. He is 23yrs old, 6'3" 253.

40 Time - 4.38
Vertical Jump - 42 inches
Bench - 480
Squat - 685 (his JR year at Maryland)
Cleans - 355x3

I'm just curious as to why they waste all of that talent at tight end? I would much rather see him as a huge RB (Giants Brandon Jacobs). I'm not a 49ers fan, but will enjoy seeing him play.

On a side note, anyone else excited for the NFL tonight..even though it's just preseason?

The guy is a complete monster though, I agree. His college highlights are sick!

Dude is massive in person...I saw him on campus a few times. You could tell he was a monster on the field too cause he'd just shrug off tackles.

Yeah, this will be his 2nd year. Hope he stays injury-free this year. I'd like to see him perform well... except against Dallas.

Yeh I knew he was in the league last year. He was injured for some of the season though.

Indianapolis vs Dallas on FOX tonight at 8 for someone earlier who asked.

As a Cowboy fan but a Maryland resident, I want to see the same. I don't know about his attitude now, but I never heard of any really immature or "TO" like moments when he was at Maryland.

6'3" is too tall for a running back...playing him at tight end creates all sorts of match up problems for opposing defenses...you can't cover him with a LB because he is too fast...but, he is too big for most corners to handle...

considering there are 175 lb olympic lifters who squat 650-700, i dont think that squat is fake

I agree it's too tall, but he would be fun to watch. Brandon Jacobs is 6'4 264 and he is a running back.
