A Cannon's Quest (First Competition) NGA Natural USA
Hey guys this is my first log so bare with me, im going to try my best to be as thorough and consistent as possible and try to produce some sort of pics on a daily basis or at least every other day. I also plan to give detailed layouts of my training leading into the show. Ive been reading these forums for awhile now and although I dont post very much I have developed a lot of respect for team scivation because of there dedication to helping to ensure that regardless of our goals we get results. On top of that much of there help is free of charge in the form of downloadable E-books that seem to come out every other month now.
I wasnt considering competing until I could manage to gain a decent amount of beef to my lower body. But due to the suggestion of a coworker who is also a competitive bodybuilder and also positive feedback from my wife I have decided to compete in my first show in 11 weeks!! The name of the competition is The 2007 Natural USA in Houston TX, the day of the comp will be November 3rd 2007 http://www.ngasouthernstates.com/index.htm. Im hoping that in time I can become a pro and really start tearing things up in natural bodybuilding.
Well a little about me?. Im 22 years old and began my quest for size 6 or so years ago in a high school weight room at the age of 16. The next couple years of my life were spent training in a gym that may have been even more hardcore then the almighty Metroflex. Im talking 200Ib dumbbells that didnt have a spec of dust on them and maybe about 2 machines in the whole joint. Whenever you came in all you heard was some random Tupac track blaring threw the speakers and the sound of iron clanking and loud grunting bouncing off the walls. Because of those days my training has always been based around heavy free weighted movements and training to failure, simple but effective.
Im currently 232 Ibs. at around what I believe to be 10% bf. Ive started the cut diet 3,000 and will probably end up at around 2100-2200 by week 10. My only deviations from the conventional diet will be.
- 50g of my overall fat intake will be in the form of fish oil. (Benefits of this http://www.t-nation.com/readTopic.do?id=1371812).
- Will not be using PB as a fat source because it is to hard to gauge the right amounts and I always end up wanting for more.
- Carb source for carb load will be yams only and no oatmeal (Like yams better).
My meals are pretty much always the same; I eat 6 times a day. The protein I eat will generally come from tilapia, chicken or eggs (mainly tilapia). The first and the last meals fat content will be 25g of fish oil while all the other meals will be either walnuts, almonds, avocado, flaxseed oil or extra virgin olive oil. Veggies will be asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, green beans and occasionally snow peas.
Any deviation from this will be noted daily, Also I consume 70g of whey a day for me pre and during workout nutrition. Meal Composition will be..

40g protein x6
20g fat x6
20-25g carb (veggies) x6
Totals
Protein- 310
Carbs- 120-150
Fat- 130
2,922-3,000 calories a day
Supplements
Xtend
Sesamin
Substance (till I run out)
Creaform
Ast multi
Vit c/Vit b/
Fish oil
Chromium
Evening primrose
Current pic 232Ibs

PostWO shoulders day
Split
Mon- Shoulders/Bis/abs (Hitt cardio sprints)
Tues- Legs (LI cardio 30-40mins)
Wed- Chest/tris (LI cardio 30-40min)
Thu- Back/abs
Fri- Rest (Hitt cardio sprints)
Sat- Full upper body circuit (light weight repping it out)
Sun-Rest (LI cardio 30-40mins)

Welcome sir. I love tha fish oil intake. I am a HUGE fan of fish oil myself. Yams are a great carb sourse for the carb load however sine oats have some good fiber in them I would recommend gettin in more green beans/asparagus/broccoli to start your carb loads. Good luck with this quest and we are here for any questions.

The tupperware lineup pic looks very familiar. Are you sure you weren't at my house?

Thanks a lot for the support all, im honestly going to need all the help I can get as time inches along seeing as competing is new as hell to me and the prospect of getting on a stage almost naked in front of a huge crowd is quiet frightening. Im very endomorphic with meso tendencies so its usually kind of difficult for me to get really really lean. Since this is my second cut using the cut diet im trying to avoid the mistakes I made last time and do this thing to the T. I actually started my dieting on Saturday aug 11th, but im just gonna start the log for what I trained yesterday then post todays training after I complete it late tonight.
Last night
Tuesday aug, 14 2007
Leg day
Sets/weight/reps
Squat
1 135x20
2 225x15
3 315x12
4 315x11
5 405x8
6 405x6
Leg press
1 8 plts( 4 on each side)x20
2 10plts x15
3 12plts x12
4 14plts x12
5 14plts x12
Stiff leg dumbbell deads
1 200x10 (2 hundred Ib Dummbells)
2 200x10
3 200x10
4 200x10
Leg ext.
1 100x20
2 150x20
3 235x12
4 235x12
5 235x12
Leg curls
1 90x20
1 120x12
2 120x12
3 120x12
Abductor mach
1 100x20
2 150x15
3 235x15.......And then the chick who was working the gym told me it was already 12:00 and the gym was closing, Dam!
Notes: Today Id gotten up at 7:00am to help my mother-inlaw move furniture and didn?t get back home till 9:00pm so I was already worn out but the workout wasn?t so bad. I usually get there earlier then I did and do post workout cardio but since I didn?t even get to finish my workout and have to do calfs on tomorrow today im making a exception. The pump was so so and my leg vascularity is getting very pronounced, wife was sleep when I got home so I didn?t have anyone to take pics. Well im gonna sleep hard before my next workout tomorrow which is going to be Chest and Tris. Starting tomorrow Im going to start devoting 15 mins after every session to posing since right now certain poses feel very awkward to me and I need to make sure im doing them right. Next paycheck im gonna order The ?Perfect Posing? DVD and study the hell out of it.

I appreciate it man, The guys at these shows are usually ripped to the bone and from what Ive seen thats generally favored over the mass game. So with that said im going to have to be just as ripped as them and work hard on my posing so I can underline my strong points and hide weaknesses.

Thx alot VA, that means alot coming from you your dedication is solid and your physique is ridicoulous. I read about your family trouble with your mother inlaw and I hope she gets better. My uncle passed away last week from some freak occurance and it really opened my eyes and showed me we dont have forever on this earth and if we want somthing we just gotta go get it and stop waiting around, that is my main reason for doing this. The day he passed away I begin to eat a bunch of crap and that whole week I threw clean eating out the window with kind of a "f**k this sh*t" mentality, I realized later that abusing my body would solve nothing and that Ive always stuck to my guns when it got rough and that it was still no excuse to fall off now. Now im back and im gonna do this 100% full force and represent my scivation brothers!

Hey I been ther and done that. The important thing is that you got back in the saddle. You can charge that up as a huge refeed. It may help shock the metabolism. No need to thank me. If you want to thank me, give em hell a your show and I am sorry to hear about your Uncle.

T cannon just to help you out man PB is a ****ign awesome fat source that tastes great...i would die if i couldnt get any of it...unless you really feel if you eat a little and want to eat the whole jar, like me, id get a small digital scale because its just TOO good to pass on...good luck with everything and like chuck said maybe for a couple of the carb nights try out the green beens at the beginning because it lowers the actual time the other carbs take to get into your blood stream giving you a better pump quicker

Does your name stand for Toy Cannon? There was a good baseball player named Jimmy Wynn who went by that name. He played for the Astros and the Dodgers in the late 60's early 70's
Also, please tell me you played D-1 football, strong safety or linebacker.

After 11 weeks of cutting, you're gonna look insane. Good luck with it man.
I clicked on that fish oil link, but it didn't work. Any chance you could try it to see if it works and if not, repost it??? I really wanna read it.
