    Mushroom protein

I read that mushrooms are a good source of protein and that it's as good of a protein that's in eggs. Is this true?

Mushrooms are basically nature's marshmallows, density wise. They're about as calorically sparse as you get and low in everything.

Haha, don't we wish. I doubt 1 mushroom has 2 grams of anything.

Well 1 cup of shiitake mushroom has 2.6g of protein but it has around 20g of carbs. Now white mushrooms have around 2.2g of protein per cup but it's extremely low in claories compared to shiitake. A cup of portabella has 4.6g of protein. Doesn't look like a significant source to me because a cup sliced is quite a bit of mushrooms.
