Do you consider protein bars to be cheat meals
Do you consider protein bars to be cheat meals? I'm curious, I'm not sure what to think.

It technically is a cheat meal,
Unless you add it as part of another meal, but they are meal supplements after all

Definitely. Some, I would classify as cheat meals, but it all depends on which one you're talking about.

all protein bars are a cheat if they arent planned. zero impact or sustain, if you decided to eat that instead of a tupperware of chicken and broccoli because you are lazy or didnt organize and plan your time well, then you cheated imo. if your plan is to eat a bar a day, that is perfectly fine.

Okay cool thanks, If I use them then I will use them as a MRP, I usually use 2 Isopure shakes a day as MRP's in between breakfast and lunch and in between lunch and dinner, so maybe sometimes instaed of having a shake I can have a bar.

How in the world are carbs a cheat? So I guess you never eat any fruit since you don't eat sugar. Or vegetables since they have carbs. What do you eat then.

I consider anything that deviates from my normal diet or anything that doesn't fit into my macros to be a cheat meal...mostly...if it's not whole food, it's a cheat.
For example...even if I were to have a protein bar that had for example: 40g of protein, 20g of carbs, & 7g of fat...because it's not whole food, I would consider it to be a cheat.
If I had a meal with three tablespoons of PB instead of my usual two, that is a cheat meal.
Cheat meals are defined by the individual...so it's really up to you.

I believe all natural bars that fit your macros are NOT AT ALL cheats, but the moment you get into the refined/overprocessed cookie bars full of artificial ingredients it is a cheat, whether it fits macros or not.
Clearly a bar isn't the same as oats/chicken, but a well formulated bar with all natural ingredients is not a cheat.
Non-cheat: Sustain, Zero Impact, Cliff Natural Bars, etc.
Cheat: All the cookie and cake bars, most of the "trail mix bars," and pretty much anything that contains a whole bunch of ingredients that require scientific nomenclature to describe.

While I can certainly say that I agree with you for the most part, I will say that I'm really too much of a whole food kind of person to consider anything else (Protein bar) as an MRB.

I can't have bars cause I'll eat too many at once so even if they are quality bars they end up being a cheat.

The only bars that aren't cheats to be are:
Sustain
VPX Zero Impact
Other than those two, every other protein bar is a cheat for me.

Most aren't healthy, I didn't realize it for a while but I consider them "cheating" when used as a meal replacement.

Whenever I don't have any food available...
I travel a lot and on planes that is all I can eat...
And sometimes if I'm on the go and I have nothing to eat and I'm about to hit the gym I eat one.... Its kind of like In case of an emergency

Have you heard of a low carb diet? And dont compare protein bars and vegies. Vegestables are a good source of good carbs.
