Should Silvio have done the under 210 class?
Would like to know everyone's thoughs on whether it was necessary for Silvio to do the under 210 pound class at the Europa. He was a favorite to take the open and he has been a top six finisher in all his 2007 shows. Would have been good to see Tricky Jackson get his first pro win.
I guess the 3000 was a good incentive and he will now have more momentum going into the Olympia. Any other thoughts?

he would have been a fool not to do the under 210. he as you said was favourite to win the open so of course he would be favourite to win 210, 3000 dollars is a nice evenings work. but say there was no open and it was just the under 210 then i think it would have been a bad idea to go for a 3000 prize with the mr olympia just 7 weeks away.
just my opinion, people will agree and disagree, each to their own

Not necessary, but who WOULDN'T wanna rake in a few thousand extra bucks?
But I think he just wanted the wins most of all. All year, it's been close but no cigar, so I guess he figured "Why the hell not? I've already competed this much so far, night as well try to add a couple trophies to the mantle."

Yeah, he should have considered Tricky Jacksons feelings before he entered the 210 devision. Bodybuilding isn't like other pro sports where athletes are getting paid $10,000 everytime they through a ball. Whether you like the bodybuilder or not, they earn every single penny they get so why shouldnt he go after every penny he can get.

hell yeah he should have. who knows, if he hadn't competed under 210, he might not have come in as super sharp!
edit: and i've honestly never understood what judges saw in Tricky Jackson. i've seen the guy several times and I'm not all that impressed. I went to the 2004 Team U, where he beat Tito Raymond for the MW title and I thought that was a crock of ****.

Why not if he was in shape. Plus the extra cash never hurts

Tricky clearly had 2nd place.
The guy that got 3rd did some HORRIBLE posing, he nearly fell over trying to get into some poses and they were akward looking, check out the webcast.

In any other sport.. what Silvio did was terrible and unsportsmanlike.
Bodybuilders don't make enough money to be "good sportsman." At the end of the day he needs to pay the bills and it was a smart decision for him to earn any dollar he can.

Naw it wasn't unsportsmanlike. He was within the weight division why would he just forego it so he can "give" someone else the win. No satisfaction in winning if some guy could have entered and beaten you.

If he was a favorite to win the Open show, why wouldn't he do the under 210 class? The $3,000 was basically a gift.

i didn't watch the webcast, nor did i look at Tricky's pictures from the show. I mean in general....I've seen Tricky compete in the past and I've seen his pictures from shows a hundred times and I don't understand what the judges appreciate so much in his physique..

I thought the purpose of this division was to give some of the lighter weight pro's an opportunity to shine and make some money in a sport where this is no money. By the rules yes he made weight. But maybe the rules should be adjusted. If you have placed in the money in an event and or qualified for the O- you are not eligible for this class. To me it was sort of like trophy hunting. Like a national level competitor going back to a local level show for another Trophy. I would also add that its sort of a step back for him. You don t see Ronnie or Jay doing the Ironman or the Keystone. If they did no one else would make any dam money. But they have more class than that. Future 210 shows shows should have money for 1st thru 5th just like the open shows. This might solve part of the problem.

Trophy Hunter
Silvo is a great Bodybuilder, that clear to see, but I think he should have stayed home and let another bodybuilder shine in the 210 class. He has placed in the top six at the all the pro shows in 2007$$. It was a easy win for him, he would'nt like it if Jay and Ronnie showed up at the smaller shows winning all the cash I think he was trophy hunting at the Europa pro show..This 210 class would have been a good win for Tricky Jackson...

Seeing as he was under 210lbs, it was like, pretty fair of him, yeah...
