LOL, Ok, this one was at Mike Katz's show in CT a few years back. It was also about 35 pounds of muscle ago! Im competing in the spring of 2002, so Ill have new shots then!
wow, that's a real honor! I guess I always see myself as smaller than I really am. Thanks dave, the support I've gotten from everyone on this board has been great. BTW, what year did you do teen nationals and how did you fair?
Peace
str8- '96 NPC Teen Nationals- 4th in the middleweight.
It was my second show and the first one I actually ever for. In '97, I went on to win my class at the NPC New England championship and attempted to do teen nationals, but ended up starting my own business (at 19!) and couldnt handle the pressures of both!
I qualified in '96 because I did the '96 NPC Maine State. My buddy dared me to walk on stage and said if I did, he'd pay for entry, NPC membership, everything, so we got there, I did a walk on, and the rest is history!
str8- you should give NPC teen nationals a shot. Youll fit in on stage stage there, and if you win, these days Flex mag is featuring the guys who are doing that show... Flex didnt give the guys of my days a second thought... I was in good company too- I remember seeing Jermay Freeman at weigh ins when he did the same show. Today he is pro after winning this years North Americans. Branch Warren won it I believe the year before me. He went pro last month...
Never worry about being "on" or not or competing against those who are on. Just work a bit harder... In this day and age- its not if you win or lose the contest that makes you a living- its if youre marketable...
