    Gym equipment maintenance

Hey guy's, I'm new here. I apologise if there has been a topic on this already but I need someone's help who could direct me to a website regarding the maintenance of gym equipment.

I have looked around the Internet and it's the same old stuff everywhere -- dealing with gym equipment rather than the maintenance of it.

Any help will be much appreciated, as I need any suggested links soon, thanks.

I'm looking for the exact same thing.
Have a new 6' barbell, and some dumbbells, and would like to know how to keep them in good shape (ie. avoiding rust)
I'm getting into the habit of wiping my equipment after finishing but is there anything that can be done?

A good thing to do to avoid rust is to spray WD-40 on the bars, but make sure that you wipe it dry afterwards so it is not slippery.

I recall feeling/smelling some sort of oil on the bar when I bought it last week. Had to wipe that off to avoid any dangerous slips. Don't think it was WD-40 though.

Is this something you do after every workout, or weekly?

I usually only clean the bars maybe once a month because even if the bars do get rusty the WD-40 will take the rust right off.

Glad you said that codeman431. Don't think I could handle doing it weekly, let alone every workout
    Thanks for the tip.
