Product Review: Elegan by Rubbermaid MixerMate Shaker

    Product:
    Elegan by Rubbermaid MixerMate Shaker

    Purchased:
I purchased at Target.com, as I could not find a local store with them in stock. FYI, a few days after mine arrived, I noticed they now have them on sale. Go figure

    Details:
As you can see from the photo it is a bright orange color complete with graduations in oz's and ml's (I believe, don't quote me on that) that are embossed in the shaker as well as colored for easy reading and you should be able to read even if they color were to come off. The cup will hold 22oz of fluid. It features a mixing grate/disc that is removable. The base cup and mixing grate is a hard plastic while the lid it the heavy pliable plastic/rubber that is typical of rubbermaid products. The lid secures to the base cup very well, creating a positive seal the is leak proof and fully secure for vigorous shaking. In fact the only down fall to this product is probably the difficulty in putting the lid on. The drinking spout is very ergonomically shaped. I couldnt think of anyway to change its shape, as its just right. The spout lid seems to secure less positive than the main lid. While still a good fit and seal for transportation, I have yet to shake the shaker without a figure or two on the drink spout lid, but with a figure over the spout lid, it positively seals.
The mixing grate helps a great deal in mixing too. Going from a "canteen-like" container to this made a world of a difference in mixing up a shake of MuscleMilk. In fact, it made quick work of a MuscleMilk Shake. The mixer is micromave safe, freezer safe and dishwasher safe. It also feature an unconditional lifetime guarantee. Rubbermaid claims that if you have a problem with the performance of your shaker that they will tak care of your request no questions asked if you call 1-888-895-2110.

I picked up two, but since doubling up on protein shakes, I am thinking about getting two more.

    Price:
This is the one pitfall of this great shaker. Retail is $9.99, but if it lasts you a lifetime and/or even saves you from one "spill", that is a small price. Particularly for me, since I work out just before going to work, so I am mixing my shake while in the car, in my work clothes, on my way to work. As mentioned above, if you act soon, Target now has the shakers on sale for $8.99.

    Outstanding product

    Update:

I must say, I love this shaker. I wash this thing in the dishwasher 3-4 times a week for the last 6+ monthes. Never leaked once. One of my two bottles does have some "writing" coming off, but 95% of the marking are still intact.

The lid has "broken in" since my intial review too and is now easy to install. I also frequently shake the shaker without having a finger or two on the lid and have experienced no leaks.

Comparing this shaker to the freebies I have gotten is like night and day difference. I have 4-5 other shakers, and I still plan to add another Rubbermaid or two to my collection.

Shaker still going strong and no worries of it leaking. That was 3 years ago too.

Pretty hefty shaker... I've only got one that has lasted that long
    I remember being relevant.
