Can you train longer if you're a powerlifter?

I was watching The Worlds Strongest Man contest today, and when the speackers were talking about one of the contestants, they said that he was a power lifter and lifts for an hour and a half 5 days a week. I've read that you shouldn't lift past 45 minutes. Does the 45 minutes not apply to powerlifters? I'm not a powerlifter, I'm just curious.
    I rep back.

My time in the gym is around an hr an 15-30min's. That is counting stretching which i do alot of (active/static). There is not set amount of time one person can train. It also takes us longer to load the weight on the barbells and unrack them since we use VERY little machines.

1-2min's i dont take near as long as most do on bench. Squat and Deadlift i will take up to 3min's as the work load is a little more taxing on the body. As for Assistance work probably around 1 min.

Powerlifters tend to take long break inbetween sets. I usually take 2-3 minutes inbetween Bench, Dead, and Squats. But only like 1.5 minutes inbetween auxiliary lifts. So on average I spend about 1.5 hours in the weight room 5 days a week.
