Shrinking legs to promote symmetry
I've always had very muscular, strong legs. However, to acheive more symmetry, I think that my legs need to be a little smaller. They are already pretty lean and have pretty good muscle definition. I currently do lots of cardio with resistance ( 6 days, 40-60 min). I also train legs 2 times per week. I do lunges, hack squat, leg extension, dead lifts, leg press, hamstring curls, calf raises, abductors, and adductors. I perform 3-4 sets of each, 20-30 reps per set. I also use heavy weights, because I really like to challenge myself and basically "kill" my legs. Should I continue this high rep, heavy weight routine or should I use light weights? Should I train legs less than two times a week? Any suggestion for decreasing my upper leg size would be much appreciated.

I'm not sure about the reps or weights but I just read in muscle and fitness that consistent super setting exercises will give you a really lean look.

Instead of shrinking your legs you should consider making your upper body bigger.

Bump to this thread.
I'd like to know the answer to this myself. I gain all my fat in my thighs, and they look a little too large in comparison to my upper body. I did managed to add mass to my upper body after a long bulk while losing size from my lower body but hit a plateau, unfortunately.

I like this idea. Your legs are killer!

Definitely agree with this one...nothing looks better than a strong upper body on both men and women!

To the OP: I agree with everyone else that you look great right now, but we want what we want when it comes to our bodies, right? If you want to thin out your legs, maybe cut back on the stationary bike for cardio, and focus more on running (no incline or minimal incline) and the elliptical (faster pace, but with less resistance). Also, you might consider lowering the weight a bit with your current leg routine, and increasing your reps.

I agree with everyone who said you need to build your upper body, rather than try to shrink your legs. You have beautiful legs! It'd suck for you to lose them!

I know what you mean... I'm pretty much like that, I like the size of my upper body but my legs are a little too muscular for the rest of my body (but i really dont whant to get an bigger upperbody, I like it like that)
Maby we are geneticly the way we are (so many women want bigger legs! hehe For me, I just focus to get them toned but without adding muscle... Less weights and cardio who focus the entire body vs only the legs

Nicole... you have beautiful legs!! I wouldn't change them at all!! You have very nice arms as well, so if you are concerned about symmetry I agree with the others that if anything I would try to add a little more bulk there rather then shrink the legs. Seriously dear...many of us would kill to have legs like that!!!
