A moderate article at best. I don't think making steroids legal would make them safer. If you legalized them you would have people going out and buying them who had no idea what the hell they were doing. It'd be like people who just run out and buy prohormones having no idea what they do. I don't think the legalization of any controlled substance is good. I think cigarettes should be illegal in my personal opinion however the tabacco industry is already too big a part of the economy to change it. He also fails in his article to list the cons of legalization and makes it a one sided article...showing his bias not to mention he gives little scientific reasoning to back up his claims.

Thumbs down Ryan Ward - Legalization of Anabolic Steroids

I think that Mr. Ward is missing several important points about roids.
I will give my opinion based on my experience with roids, first I don’t use them, second my friends that use to… use them are now unable to go to the Gym, simply because they are now unable to hold weight due to heart related problems.

Legalizing roids are going to make them safer!
Hardly, you are adding a substance that doubles, triples, or even more what your body naturaly does. Well that makes your body lazy, it simply quits producing that substance again.

Ryan, this is like asking to legalize marihuana. It is not going to make it safer. Just check Holland, they are about to close all those marihuana cafés. Why?
For the same reason there are wars in Colombia for more than 50 years ago.

Yeah I agree. Steroids are dangerous even if you know what you are doing and are carefully monitored. I read a true story of a guy who was a doctor and a bodybuilder. He tried the stuff and still lost some of the hair on his head and his cholesterol blood pressure sky rocketed! This is with a guy who knows what the supposive "safe" levels to take the stuff are accoriding to this article their is a "safe" way to take roids but I don't buy it. These things are dangerous no matter how you take them and megadosing just makes them that much more dangerous. It is personal choice as to whether or not to take them but I wouldn't recommend steroids to anyone. I wouldn't even recommend Andro to anybody.

I agree with Ryan. As an exercise physiologist and a devout bodybuilder, I feel that the legalization of steroids would have possitive effects in the fields of bodybuiling, other competitive sports, and medicine in general. I'm not going to list all of my arguements or cite any medical research, but I am going to say that all of the support is out "there"...endocrinologists have discovered tons of uses for steroids and have found means of preventing the negative side-effects related to their use. Steriods CAN be structurely altered to prevent certain side effects while maintaining their integrity. The only thing I would add in support of Ryan is that steroids MUST BE REGULATED BY PHYSICIANS!!! No Joe Shmoe off the streets should be able to access them without being consulted first by a licensed physician. I plan on working toward the legaliziation of steroids as a professional goal...let's hope I can do it!

Exclamation Big muscles and small nuts!

Check out the facts. How can any human find this appealing?
    EFFECTS OF STEROIDS INCLUDE-
Cancers of all sorts, heart attacks and strokes, high LDL levels, acne, trembling, retention of fluid, and jaundice.

Men: testes shrink, sperm count falls, infertility, balding of the head, breasts develop, increase risk of prostate cancer, and #1... shrunken sexaual organ.

Women:take on male appearance, grow beards, go bald, voice deepens, menstrual cycle changes or stops, clitoris which resembles penis.

ONLY AN EGO IDIOT WOULD THINK THE RISK IS WORTH IT. Check out the size of my arms, but don't look at my penis!!

normally i stay away from this section, but this is too funny.

steroids do not cause cancer, lyle alzado is not the authority on the link between steroids and cancer.

steroids MAY cause already cancerous tissue to accelerate growth slightly, but it doesn't trigger cancerous tissue development.

all side effects can be countered and steroids DO NOT SHRINK YOUR PENIS.

on the note of prostate cancer, if you live long enough you WILL get prostate cancer. some medical professionals don't even refer to it as a cancer anymore.

    Hmm

Steroids and Testosterone Replacement Therapy imo should only be a viable option when one is older and might need it.

Otherwise imo, you've got some self esteem issues if you feel you need unnatural enhancers to boost your body up physically. Steroids have only brought problems when used incorrectly and for selfish means. Bodybuilding as a sport is a big farce and will never in a century come back to right standing unless Anthony Church and Layne really promote Natural Bodybuilding again across America and return it to a golden age so to speak.

[edit] I mean people who don't want to use roids have really great options if they work hard. Myself on cyclical ketogenic and low carb diets can lose about 1% b/f every 2 weeks and cut down extremely fast, and gain muscle at a good pace while using a good diet and lifting smart and less frequently.

Guys like Anthony and Layne Norton have shown alot of the naysayers just what hard work can do. I mean c'mon have you seen the poundages they can lift, and what they've done all through natural means. They match people who take steroids guys and in many cases surpass them. On top of that, they will have healthy bodies that last long into old age when everyone around them is having all sorts of physical health problems. Think really really long and hard on whether you'd rather take an easier way out, instead of a lifetime of benefit.

On top of that, all the steroid users I know(at least a dozen) if they were to be a super-hero it would have to be two-face hehe. One month they are cut up and 15lbs heavier, next month they are soft and flabby, the month after that they're down 20 lbs and small, then next month they are 15lbs of muscle heavier, not to mention all the acne related problems. I really feel sorry for the steroid users who aren't over the age of 50.

    Oh well.

    Not a good article.

He is really messed up. Actually sent him a long e-mail with details of friends and Gym Rat aquaintances I have known from just 15 miles square in 3 gyms in MO.

    9 guys:

2 impotent without using test in there 30's.
3 suicides, one with Terminal liver disease who drank till he died, 2 others shot themselves with one going into the gym early before the doors opened and splattered his thoracic region all over the gym with a shot gun.
Lost a friend to Cancer. Used GH for 2 months noticed a lump on his neck, died 8 months later of throat cancer at 62.
2 guys have had mild strokes in there mid 30's.
1 guy served after selling steroids and using led him to selling guns illegally and got caught. Got out killed a couple in a hit run while intoxicated. It just made him an idiot.

    No problems?

Drug free and competing in the NANBF finishing in the top 3 at 47 and can still do it now at 49. Loving it. Can guys compete for 25 years on the gear. NO!

I am a promoter for the NANBF and compete as well. We do 100% polygraph and collect urine from all competitors sending all winners of classes and anyone that looks suspect. I call it selective testing. Random is Bull! In KC we are fielding 2 shows a years My wife and I, the Natural Southern States Classic and the Jan & Fred Rowletts KC Natural Gold's Classic. We are both selling out with 100+ competitors and 1300 & 2000 spectators. The Non Tested you know who organization folded up there tents 5 years ago and have attempted to come back. They have only managed to get 20 competitors and 300 or so spectators for 2 years. In our corner of the world we are getting it done and now for 10 years.
