Is it a good idea to work out every other day? I am currently on a M-W-F split, and wanted to try something new after taking some time off. I was thinking of maybe something like this:
L= quads/calves/abs
C= chest/shoulders/triceps
B= back/bi's
Day 1: L
Day 2: rest
Day 3: C
Day 4: rest
Day 5: B
Day 6: rest
Day 7: L
Day 8: rest
Day 9: C
Day 10: rest
Day 11: B
Day 12: rest
Day 13: L
Day 14: rest
this way, on some weeks, certain bodyparts would get hit twice in a 7 day period...for example, once on sunday, and again on saturday.
would this be a sound plan worth trying?

I like a low volume higher frequency routine myself. I dont see anything wrong with training every other day as long as you are recovering, getting stronger and growing.
I wouldnt go nuts with the volume though. Otherwise I think it would be fine.My heart tells me that Gollum has some part to play yet, for good or ill before this is over...

my volume is always really low...i overtrain easily. to be more specific, the routine looks like this:
quads/hams/calves
3 x 8-10 for all exercises
squat
leg press
SLDL
leg curl
calf raise
chest/shoulders/triceps
3 x 6-8 for all exercises
flat bench
incline bench
shoulder press
laterals
dips
back/bi's
rep ranges are a bit different for each exercise
deadlift 3 x 4-6
barbell row 3 x 6-8
seated cable row 3 x 6-8
pullups 2 x 6-8The Chronicles of Gibblets
