Has anyone tried any of the sprays or lotions that are suppose to remove hair? Just wondering if they worked at all.

Go to a laser center and get it laser removed, sounds worse than it is. Thats what my GF does for a living. Laser peoples pubic area, pits, legs, arms, everything. Its the only way to go.

Alex - Do you have sensitve skin? If you do, I'd stay away from the creams and lotions. If nothing else use with caution.

I myself have sensitve skin and I first purchased Hair No More, then tried Nair. They both fried my skin beet red. Kind of torked me off cause, resorting to shaving takes forever and is far too time consuming. I'll probably resort to waxing simply because I've heard, and someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I've heard the laser treatments are pretty expensive.

Yep, make sure you do a test patch with any cream or lotion you may use. Luckily I did this, I was going to use Epils stop I believe it was called, did a test patch on my forearm and it burned it really bad. Left small red welts that almost weren't gone by contest time. So be careful, I went back to shaving.

Hair removal

My question is If you shave, do you have to constantly shave?, and does the hair grows back thicker and fuller? ( I wish the same would work for my head )
but anyway is laser removal a more permanent solution. I am starting to grow light hair on the back of my shoulders but not to heavy I dont want to shave an then I am committed to shave frequenly, its tough enough to shave my face every day.
Thanks for any help on this matter.

I just shave and no it doesn't grow back and thicker. I used to use creams and they did work well but it just didn't seem to be keeping the hair off that much longer than shaving, so i now just shave. I do get my back waed though and that seems to work pretty well.

I use an electric and touch up every week. I start 1 month out getting the long hair off, then just use an eletric once a week for touch up. Caution on your arm pits with an electric!

What about waxing, I guess this is where some kind of tape is applied, then
RRRRRRRRRRRipped off it sounds horrible, but is it a cleaner look than shaving and does it grow back as quick?.Has anyone done waxing? Just want to look good for the summer, not in competitions or anything.

Various Hair Removal Methods

I posted this a while back, but I thought it'd be useful here too.

Hair removal methods:

1. Personal groomers (moustache trimmers). Like tiny barber's clippers, they give you a close shave, but cut the hairs evenly so they don't have a point at the end (making them more prone to cause razor bumps/or irritate the skin). Since it shaves a small surface area at time, it can take a while to shave if you have hair covering your entire chest and abdomen.

a. http://www.skippypodar.net/WebGaller...algroomer2.jpg
b. http://www.skippypodar.net/WebGaller...algroomer3.jpg - This is the one I have.

2. Rotary shavers. Provides a good close shave but for those with sensitive skin, it can produce razor bumps.

http://www.skippypodar.net/WebGaller...taryshaver.jpg

3. Straight/disposable razors. Also works well, however it can also produce razor bumps in people with coarse/curly hair.

4. Nair (or any depilatory). Removes hair by dissolving it. Leave on for no longer than 7-10 minutes as it will begin to dissolve skin if it's left on too long (causing scarring).

http://www.skippypodar.net/WebGaller...r-for-men1.jpg

http://www.nairformen.com/

5. Waxing. It hurts like heck because the hair is ripped out of the follicle. It lasts a long time, but the hair eventually grows back.

6. Laser hair removal. Expensive and time consuming, particularly if you're very hairy. This form of hair removal is permanent.

Experiment with a few things to see which works best for you.

Hope this helps.

My experience with waxing, yeah it's not the most pleasant experience, but in my opinion it's a much better route to take then creams or lotions. It leaves the skin smooth and clean and lasts longer, cause as Abdominator stated, the hair is ripped out of the follicle. The length of time does tend to vary though. I know some guys who has to wax every two weeks and I know others who can go a whole month without having to wax again.

In all fairness as far as creams and lotions go though, creams and lotions do work well and ok for some guys. Best advice I could give ya is just use with caution. Do test patches on your skin first, to see how your skin reacts to it.

Good luck man, let us know what works best for ya.

I'll never use creams again. I had put some on a little area to test it. After the recommended time was up I whiped it off and my pore's started bleeding a little, little spots of blood, freaked me out. Might have been a cheap brand, can't remember the name but it smelled like grass and coconuts.

Yeah I had that happen to me as well, which is why I no longer use creams/lotions.

I do not use Nair or any other lotion hair removers at all. I use to use Nair on my neck, and it burned the **** out of me, and wouldn't even remove the hair to well at all. I have some back hair, and chest, abdomen hair. I'm planning to get my back, and chest, and stomach area waxed by the summer. Waxing does give it a cleaner look, and definitely lasts longer than shaving. With shaving it still seems like you see kind of a stubble because of course you are cutting the hair above the skin. Waxing is pulling the hair from the follicle or root until a new one grows. I wish I had enough money to get my hair laser removed. What I am going to do before the summer is buy me a nice trimmer, trim my pubic hairs(waste down), leg hairs, and my booty hair a nice short number. Then my chest, stomach (waste up), and back I am going to see if I can get it waxed. I am also going to probably purchase a product called Vaniqa which is a hair growth inhibitor. Hopefully it will work for me. I am pretty hairy and I hate it.

I also seem to grow hair on my neck meaning all the way to my chest, which I hate. I usually just shave it, but I hate doing that because of the faster, thicker hair growth, and I especially don't want that on my neck. I'm also probably going to let that hair grow out a little bit, and get it waxed. I already tried waxing it myself at home with a professional waxing kit. I believe the brand is bumble bee, or the brand with the bumble bee on it? Not sure of the name right now. Although I did remove a good amount of neck hair some still stayed there, and I wound up burning my neck pretty bad. So next time I do it, I will be more careful or I'll just wait to get it professionally waxed somewhere. Anyone know of a place in New Jersey where they do upper body, neck, back, chest, stomach waxing for men? I think the best look is a bare upper body, or a bit of short hair on the chest. As for lower body for men really short nice looking hair is I think the most comfortable and better looking.

Like I mentioned I am looking for like a spa for men in New Jersey. If anyone knows of a good place where they do men's waxing please let me know.

laser hair removal

hi-

i have tried nearly every method of hair removal. i'm lucky that i don't have hair on my back & shoulders, but i do have hair on my stomach, chest, arms & legs. shaving has never been very long-lasting, but it is still the best solution for me.

i have tried laser hair removal SEVERAL times. i've probably spent 4 thousand dollars to remove the hair from my arms and legs, but it wasn't effective. what happened was a red, sore, blistered body area that took a week to heal, then the hair would fall out at about 2 weeks. my skin would be very smooth & hair free for about 6 weeks, but it grew back very quickly after that. and i've tried different lasers, and different clinics. i am supposed to have 'ideal' skin & hair charactoristics, but the lack of results speak for themselves. it wasn't a permenant hair removal for me, and in my opinion, is wasn't worth the money.

i would keep resorting to shaving until something better comes along. i'm sure that a treatment will come along soon that actually does permenantly remove hair, but as of right now, i can't tell you that there is.

I bled like holly hell when I waxed! Ripped the hair out and gave me about a million little scabs. I haven't tried nair, but waxing didn't work so well for me!

Oubobcat06 will become famous soon enough. (+50)
How do you guys get to your back? Just have a really really good friend help you out? I'm 21 and I look like grizzly adams and it's awful... kinda makes lifting and running seem useless when I'm still embarrassed to take my shirt off because my back may as well be black....
Of course, most women don't mind going through a little brush as long as there is a picnic on the other side..lol

you should try waxing once.the back & shoulders are probably a lot easier to have done than most areas. be careful if you ever decide to try laser hair removal.

After reading this thread it seems like you cannot stop hair growing! It will always grow back with a vengence and with frustration all these products are really crap and are there for the quick buck.

^^ Damn that blows. I'm gonna be waxing, and probably pick up some cream called Vaniqa. It is like a hair growth inhibitor, hopefully it will work for me, or at least slow the growing hair down quite a bit.

yeah...
i got the whole grizzly adams thing, but i'm more like the bear. i've tried Nair, and i guess my skin's OK. i've never really had too much trouble, but it is frustrating to have the s*** grow back all the time. i know some guys who use women's razors to do some of the shaving, and i was also told by a girlfriend of mine that using some conditioner right after shaving works wonders. she had legs like glass, so i guess she knows what she's saying. i'm in okinawa right now, so i haven't been able to find any waxing places nearby that do guys unfortunately. when you use as much nair as some of us do, it gets a bit pricey... ahhh the pains of being beautiful. *sarcasm*

I agree that waxing bites. It doesn't feel good to say the least, but I rough it out for the longer lasting effect. If I wouldn't have to shave every day or every other day, then I myself would simply just shave. It really is the easiest way to go about it. Well, ok, not the easiest, but probably the best. Ya don't have to worry about your skin getting fried like ya do with the creams, and ya don't have to feel the pain from the hair being pulled out with waxing. I guess there's just no real good solution to the problem. Whichever methode you choose, they all have their drawbacks. Just got to go with the one that works best for ya.

true. there are pros and cons to every method.

shaving - cheap, not painful (it shouldn't be if you do it correctly), but does not last very long.

waxing - hurts like mf, but the results are usually long-lasting (sometimes more than 30 days). can get expensive, too.

laser - expensive, reports that it doesn't work. you're investing a lot of money in something that might not even work.

nair - burns! inexpensive, though.

i just shave in the shower. i use some moisturizing lotion before i get out of the shower. on days when i don't shave, i put body oil on myself before stepping out. keeps the skin and emerging hair soft.

Anybody know of a site I can go to in which I can check, or if you know a place yourself in New Jersey or Manhattan where they do strictly mens waxing? So I can wax my back/shoulders/chest/ab area? I'm having a hard time finding a place.

I know in Manhattan I believe they have like a Men's spa sort of thing.

Anybody know? It would greatly be appreciated. I want to get a nice waxing before the summer. Thanks.
