Well I am in college and the temptation to drink is too great to resist. So I'm gonna do it once on weekends
Anyways. What should I be drinking? Shots or what? I'm guessing beer is out

Beer is out.
Drink grey goose......it's so clean that it never gives a hangover and the toxins that are associated with normal alcohols don't come into effect.
Yes, it's damn expensive, but think of it this way.....you'll look pimp.
Other than that, all alcohol will **** up your gains....sorry.

Vodka is probably your best bet. Either ice-cold neat, on the rocks or with some zero cal mixer. A small splash of either dry martini or bitters will give it some flavour if you want to have a decent drink.

i drink at least every other weekend, usually every weekend. i took a month off a while ago, and noticed great gains in fat loss (i was cutting at the time).
usually when i drink its at home, so lately ive just been making a real strong drink and puttin' it down. i like silver 7's, so i make it with a little over half the glass of silver, the rest is ice and 7up. can put back about 1/3 liter of silver in two drinks. its still the same amount of alcohol, but at least its less pop...

grain alcohol in crystal light. Dunno the caloric content of grain alcohol but it's 190 proof or 95% alcohol so a little goes along way.

And to be dedicated doesn't mean going tot he gym and doing cardio. This sport is not something that you do a few hours a week. It is a lifestyle.
All though, if you are having a hard time making friends, join a frat. It is like "buy a friend." You pay your dues and you get friends. Then again, frats lead to more drinking.I am not trying to be better than you, just better than myself

Do what you gotta do, but it WILL limit your gains. All this discussion over which drink is better for you is ridiculous. Low carb alcohol is BS, all alcohol is converted to sugar in your liver anyway. What do you think your body does with all that sugar? The sugar spike is not nearly as bad IMO as the effect on your hormones for days after. I just don't get why somebody would sacrifice all week and then throw a week's efforts down the drain for one night of fun. But then again, when I was 20 I didn't lift at all and my idea of fun was snorting coke off a stripper's ass, so to each his own and have fun. Later, Odin

Once I was in the gym and this guy who just got done benching 535lbs eight times with perfect form asked me what my diet was. I ran down the list of all the same ol same ol...tuna, chicken, brown rice, blah blah blah. He shook his head and laughed at me. I asked him what his philosophy was. His reply was this, "Eat whatever you want, train like an animal."
Essentially he was right. If you are busting ass in the gym, taking a drink on the weekends is NOT going to ruin you. If anything it keeps you sane. Go out, get some drinks, talk to some beautiful girls. THATS THE MOTIVATION THAT WILL KEEP YOU GOING!!!

im at college, and go out about 2-3 days a week. last semester i gained like 15 pounds or so, mainly cuz of drinking.
i have lost 20 pounds since early january, and a major reason i can keep losing is cuz i just dont drink. would i like to drink? hel,l yea i would, but **** there are lots of semesters coming up for me, and my priority lies in me dieting, not dirnking.
btw you can have fun without drinking. i used to think i needed to drink to have fun, but ive had more girls in my room in the past 4 weeks where i havent sipped alcohol, than in the entire last semester where i would dirnk like every other college kid.

If you HAVE to drink, I would try to stick with Red Wine. Your body processes wine differently than beer, straight alcohol, etc. It's more natural.
It's still not good for your body building goals, but you're right, you're in college, so have fun. Now, if you were getting ready for competition, that would be a whole different game---no drinking.Visit my 2005 Cutting thread, I'm going for 8-10% body fat! :
