Red face question about off season weight gain

    Hey Everyone,

This was my first year competing in figure. I've done two shows. I plan on doing a show in July, so I have about 2 months before I start to diet again. Right now, my goal is to add as much muscle to my frame as possible. I'm lifting heavy, and eating much more than in the cutting phase.

My height is 5'2, and my contest weight is 100. As of right now, Im 113 lbs. For those of you who have gone through the process of competing what is your average weight gain is in the off season.

I know it is absolutely nessesary to gain some fat while adding muscle. (please correct me if I'm wrong.) I guess my dilemma is I get frusterated when my clothes are fitting tight!!

Also, what is an average off season bf %?

Im at around 16, from 12.

i also competed for the first time in figure this past season. i am competing again in may so i am already cutting. our stats are not even slightly close, but i'll tell you just for comparison. i'm 5'6" and compted at 125, 118, & 122. during off season i made sure i ate all the protien and i needed to grow and lifted heavy, but i did not do a clean bulk by any means. i enjoyed myself and needed to after all the strict dieting i had done. i gained 30 pounds the past 4 months during off season. i went from a size 0-2 to a size 8. i've been dieting for about six weeks now and have only lost about 10 pounds, but i am back in size 4 jeans. i look totally different. i'm hoping to compete at a ripped 125 in figure this year. like i said, our stories are totally different, i gained your 13#s in water weight the first week after my shows. i keep telling myself all this added weight will be worth it and i will come in looking even better this year. good luck to you!

Thanks for the response Someday. I know its normal to be bulging out of my pants, and im glad Im not alone! As you probably can relate, its tough seeing all the previous hard work, to get as lean as possible, and then watching your six pack vanish before your eyes.....But to make gains, its part of the game!! It will be worth it, no doubt. Where is you comp in May?
