how do i tackle better
this is my first year of football and i never really done anything athletic..
so we had 2 tackle each other kinda during practice and the other guy jsut ran to me at full speed and tackled me, it hurt a lil.
i wanna tackle better but im bad at it, and whenever i tackle someone i get all nervous, how do i over come this and tackle better?
on another note
man its tough, wearing the equiptments real annouiyng cuz it makes my chest really hot and it slows me down, the helmets the worse part, my helmet doesnt git me properly and makes my neck hurt
i dunno how i will be able to catch the ball and run fast with the helm in my eyes and equipment slowing me down, having experienced wearing equiptment has kinda made me uuh whats the word...less excited about football.
but ill get to use to runnin and cathcing the football in it right?

u'll get a lot better. just keep practicing and stay after practice to run routes wit ur qb. if u cant see maybe its cuz u got the wrong type of facemask for a WR.

most of tackling and big hits is mental imo
weak guys physically and mentally will go for leg tackles or put their head down and get plowed
if you want a be a real good t ackler and knock heads off, you gotta have the attitude for it. cant be scared/nervous.
think of it this way..HIT or get HIT...trust me, u dont want to get hit by a RB going full speed while your just standing there. go after him..say to yourself your gonna light him up and just run your body through him.
1. Mentally Tough and Aggressive
2. Good Positioning..square up..get low
3. DRIVE YOUR FEET. I see tons of kids just wrap up and try to push like they are trying to hold off a fallen tree. driving your feet whille give you momentum and maybe help you knock the guy straight on his back like a Pancake
im a big hitter..not always a sound tackler because last year i went go knockout hit or strip but for big hits its all mental..i dont even remember what i did before that..i just get up and people are screaming and im like..sweet. people are saying howd u do it and im like..uhh i'll get back to you on that. its just natural imo

Try and watch some game play footage to observe technique. Until you have it down well don't try and strip the ball or anything fancy, just make the sure tackle.

it sounds like your pads are to big if your having trouble catching the ball. ask the coach for some QB pads if your not worried about losing some protection for flexibilty that is. and oh you def want to get you a smaller helmet the last thing you want is a concussion or hurt neck.

You have to see what you hit. Make sure to keep the head up. As you make contact, wrap up and drive the legs like crazy and squeeze your arms around the ball carier to limit movement. Just remember you must go +100% or you will get injured.

Oh yeah, don't ever lead with the top of your head. That is the easiest wway to become a vegetable while playing this sport.

Hey, umm yea if your 6'3 and 160 pds..that aint good im 5'7 and 160 something and i think im still pretty small. You tall so it is statiscly easier for you to go down and being skinny dont help ya. It takes work you gotta get bigger but for down, Keep your body aligned, aim low, and when you make contact KEEP YOUR FEET MOVING, keep pushing. I woudl reccomend try to put on more weight and muscle...cant hurt.

I totally agree with that. I have never played organized football, but I play tackle football with a lot of football players every week, and I'm always one of the best defensive players out there because I just wanna knock someone out. All I can say is get more pumped up and look for opportunities and just go after people. Play with a chip on your shoulder.

Watch The Hips...head Up....run Full Speed Into His Stomach To Groin Area And...once You Make Contact Pick Him Up..or Grab His Leg... If He Over Powers You...and Keep Your Feet Moving...try to run as fast as you can at him so you have more momentum then he does...knock a head off,,,, rawr!

-get low
-wrap up
-drive forward
remember to keep your head up. when tackling someone head on, in the middle of the field, put your facemask into the ball(causes fumbles). when tackling someone who is running to the outside of the field, try to get your facemask on the outside of them(forces them into the inside if you miss, but it depends on the situation when doing this. if you know you will tackle him anyways, dont take the risk of missing him)
