From my understanding it is a synthetic oil that is injected into the muscle, where it attaches to the bone or somethign like that.

Synthol is a form of synthetic oil, you inject it to look bigger, it doesn't "do" anything more than add volume, basically it's like pouring water into a balloon, you inject it into your arm/chest/whatever to inflate the area, basically you just add the volume of the oil you are injecting.
