This is all I could find so far Big Poppa, but I'll post as I run across it -

"The MET-Rx brand was started with one product, the "Original." The Original was the first meal replacement powder (MRP) comprised of a blend of both fast- and slow-absorbing proteins, which provide its anabolic and anti-catabolic properties."

Yeah, I do -- and at this point I am not going to share. And, I am not talking the label -- I am talking the actual formula.

I heard that original MetRx had a ton of glutamine per serving, some colostrum and some sort of bovine hormones... I know, I know... that is like a bodybuilding urban legend... those were the days though... it was all so simple then. Peace out.

It actually is still very simple. I strongly believe that most people can make very good consistant gains from:

    1) good protein intake
    2) creatine
    3) ECA when cutting

There are other "things" that will help -- but those are the basic building blocks -- and always will be.

Actually in the 80's there were even more gimmicky (crappy) products out. You probably just forgot about them (blocked them out of your mind because they were so horrifying). Things like smilax, beast liquid serum, orchic, glandulars, bee pollen, saspirilla, many ridiculous weight gainer products, "anabolic activators", etc. At least now if you do your research you can figure out which are usefull and which are bull****.

I was referring to the mid '90's when I started training... there were the basics: pure creatine monohydrate (Phos****en), Animal Pak, original MetRx and Designer Protein. Simple and basic, tried and true. Peace out.

It's weird to think back, but in the mid '90s, all of that stuff you mentioned (except Animal Pak) had been on the market only a few years. In the beginning, the *original* original Met-Rx wasn't available in packets. It was a two part, Base & Plus formula that had to be mixed together. It was sold in tall plastic canisters.

I wonder if there's a chance that the original two part formula will be brought back -- either by Dr. Connelly or someone close to him. I think there might be a great market niche for it. Of course, it probably couldn't be called "Met-Rx" anymore, but the legendary mystique would be there... something like Blair's protein.

Yeah, how about Hoffman crap, and MLO(which is still around somehow), and lets not forget the Weider crap. The Tigers Milk bars have somehow hung in there too. Then there was Anabolic Activator, Hot Stuff, etc. Standard supplements were dessicated liver, bone meal, etc. I sure remember smilax, beast, glandulars, bee pollen, etc. as you mention. It is funny to even hear about this stuff any more. Many do not realize how good they have it these days with supplements.

And the bars, ahhh...the Hoffman Club sandwich was a winner! Geez, I could go on.....

I bought the original Met Rx when it came out. They wanted me to be a distributer for it! It was state of the art. I personally loved it.

I would actually like to see a hybrid of the HMB formulation back on the market. I know a lot of people have their doubts about HMB, but I made great gains off this stuff.

I remember when Muscle Media 2000 ran a dinky one-page article about “something called creatine”. This was in their June 1993 issue, and it marked the beginning of the creatine revolution. Back then, you were lucky to get a 100-gram bottle for 30 dollars! Of course, now a kilo can be bought for 20 bucks. I wish gasoline price would drop that way.

Oh man, I was part of that program. It was 1992, and Met-Rx wasn’t in the mainstream market yet. I signed up as a sales rep. They sent me hundreds of full color sales brochures to distribute. Each brochure included a Met-Rx order form stamped with my “Rep ID Code”. I would get commisions when people ordered using my code. Well, I made a few bucks off it - didn’t get rich though. But… a guy named Bill Phillips did pretty well!

As I've said before, I loved the original MEt-Rx formula. Made great gains, lost ALOT of fat, and felt great on it.
Since no one will spill the beans on what was in it, I am wondering generally speaking how the current "Original" formula differs from the true original, cause what they're selling today under the same label is crap IMO.

Ethical conduct really is a lost art...

Met-RX ingredient quality (obviously protein in particular) is not what it used to be back when Dr. Connely was at the helm.
It seems these poets have nothing up their ample sleeves...

Thanks and yes it is -- I was prevy to information which at the time was extremely confidential -- and really still is. I mean if I were actaully going to share this formula it certainly would not be on a bulletin board -- no offense.

And, you are also correct in stating that the real METOMYOSYN protein formulation is not what it used to be. When Dr. Connelly sold MET-Rx the formula was almost immediately changed to help with profit. It contains a lot more whey protein now from what I understand.

I will let you know that Dr. Connelly is in the process of developing a new generation of protein right now. He has invested a lot of money in this project (easily millions) and has some very positive research projects already completed. I am not sure exactly how or when this product will be marketed due to some other circumstances -- But people should know he is not kicking back counting his money like a lot of other people that have sold-out.
