Oh my gosh
So, I bought this scale that also measures body fat. Now I know that it is not going to be the most accurate thing ever, but I was shocked with what I saw. It said 36% body fat. OH MY GOSH! I about died! I've lost about 60 pounds in the past year and a half, so I dont even want to imagine what it was then, but I do have to say that I had been feeling really good abuot myself and this kinda shattered that good feeling. So I let myself feel sorry for myself yesterday and now today is a new day and I will be working hard to get that body fay down. WOW 36, still shocked. I keep going "really? are you sure" But it is so. So now I know what I need to do. Increase my cardio and watch what I eat. I need to eat really clean othewise I wont lose what I need to lose. But I have a really hard time understand the whole eating clean thing. Is there a book that can help really put into light what this really means? I know alot of times I read people being told to search the forums, but whenever I search for cutting diets I don't really bring much up. I think I just dont quite get it. Thanks for you help.

Hi,
The ladies were discussing a book here:
http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=4001393
with recipes and an outline for clean eating. Hope that helps!
Also congrats on all of your progress you have done great! Don't let that scale get you down, just keep working hard and focus on how far you have come already! You're doing great and have so much to be proud of! Besides its' just a scale....

Hi,
Good work so far!! I don't see anything about lifting weights.
You must be doing something right with your diet in order to have
lost the weight you already have.

You are doing great! Those scales are REALLY inaccurate!!!! I had one that told me i was like 20% BF when I was 105# and about 9% BF!!!
By your pics, you are NOT that high, but just go by clothes and measurements! You look great!

It's not just "not the most accurate thing ever." It's probably one of the most INACCURATE things ever! My bf scale says I'm at 9%, which, as you can see by my avatar, I'm clearly not. So...mine underestimated. Just by looking at you, I'd say yours shot way above your actual body fat percentage. So don't spaz or do anything drastic just yet. I think you're looking pretty good, too!
Tosca Reno's "Eat Clean Diet" (book) is an easy read with some good recipes that will help get you on your way.

Thanks guys!
Thank you guys! I was just a little frustrated because when I had the gym do it back in Feb it said 26 so to see it sky rocket that much I was shocked. I guess what I'll do is use it to see changes and not necessarily what it is saying. So when it says I've lost 2%, I'll take it as 2% loss but not necessarily 34%. I'm going to see if the library has that book so I can learn more about clean eating. I just feel overwhelmed with wanting to do more and achieve more with my weight loss that I don't know what to do or where to start now. I'm so used to just dieting-limiting my calories, never below 1200 and doing light weights and cardio that I just feel like I'm losing this new goal I made for myself. I eat pretty good, i do have to say I cheat a lot more than I should. But that's all going away today. I don't do as much cardio as I should so I'm not losing the fat that I want to be. I guess I've just been to lazy and doing more weights than cardio lately. I want to get to the point where I see a lot of women on here, where they are lifting a lot of weights and looking good. I know I've done pretty well with the losing weight thing but now I want to really tighten things up and not look so flabby. I guess I just started rambling here at the end. OOPS! Sorry for those who read that! Thanks for all of your support and helpfulness-is that even a word!
Steph

The scales are not very accurate, they can be a good way to track change over time though. Used once or twice a week over the course of months it can give a good indication of progress, the key is to make sure you are checking it under the same conditions every time.
Checking it everyday will drive you nuts the same way using a normal scale will, there will be all kinds of variation depending on the time of day, what you ate, how long ago you ate, what you are drinking, how long ago you drank etc...

Bodyfat scales are not for athletes. One box I read had a disclaimer that said 'not for bodybuilders'. I use fat calipers.

Well I dunno?? My son is a beanpole standing at 6'4" and weighing in at 139 pounds ..it says he is about 10% bodyfat.
I think it's fairly accurate ..give or take a few percentages off. My body is looking about like the OP's and it reads that I am 33.5% body fat...I believe it to.. seriously.
I did the online one to where you measure..and it was the same thing ..just a few off from my scale. That's not that accurate either..but I have alot of fat.
