    So the best way to maintain muscle and burn fat is...

    so the best way to burn fat and maintain muscle is to keep over all cal intake higher then normal,(2500-3000 average) and become calorie defecit from cardio etc?
    gotta gain at least 10 more lbs.

    Ive managed to lose about 10lbs of fat in the last month and all my lifts have gone up. I had a slight calorie deficit with a fair bit of cardio and just kept eating a ton of protein and lifting heavy. Takes longer than a straight cut, but I think the end results are worth it. People I see keep asking me if i've spent the entire summer working out and I get a lot more looks at the beach.

    I cycled carbs to do it, but didnt give up drinking on weekends, which I'm sure slowed me down.

    nice man, this cut ois going to be hard because i hate counting calories...
    you think if i just eat clean, frequently, 180-200gs protein a day il loose fat?

    If you eat just above maintenance you can cut and add muscle slowly. I think that is what you are looking for. Maybe try a 50/30/20 ratio of protein/carbs/fat for a few weeks or a month. That should get you cut pretty well and then go back to 40/40.20.

    Not necessarily.

    IMO:

    #1 calories deficit (either food intake, cardio or both). This is necessary for fat loss.
    #2 lift weights - best way to maintain as much muscle as possible
    #3 lose the fat/weight relatively slowly (exact amount depends on nutrition, routine and muscle mass/BF%). For most people, having decent nutrition and lifting, 1-2lb/week is reasonably 'safe'. Or go by the recommendations by Lyle McDonald.
    #4 good nutrition - quality foods. Many say is doesn't make any difference, but my opinion is that even if this is true in the short term (maybe even 6 months or so), over year(s) eating crap, but maintaining a calorie deficit (or eating around maintenance) will catch up with you in terms of insulin and hormone response to your diet. Just an opinion though.

    You can cut quite effectively while maintaining muscle without cardio. In fact many prefer that because they think cardio will burn muscle. Personally I don't agree with that, but you definitely don't need cardio.
