A Friendly Reminder...
Thought I'd share this with you guys that do not warm up with a lighter weight or stretch before you workout.
At my gym today (also where I work), I was already mid-workout when another guy came in (in street clothes nonetheless). He went straight to a bench, pumped off a few presses and then did some calf work. After his set, I told him that if he needed a spotter for anything, just to come up and ask, to which he gave me the one-eyebrowed raise as in "What for?".
Anyways, he loads up an EZ-Bar for skullcrushers, goes down a few times, and then I hear the most blood-curtling scream. I drop my weights and run over to see this guy in the fetal position (after he had fallen off the bench where he was doing the skullcrushers) with a bloody forehead. The weight had fallen directly onto his head, and I just thought "What an idiot, that'll teach him". That's when I seen his arm... It was blue and purple from the elbow down to his fingers, and it was about twice the size of his other. I calmed him down and I guess shock set in because he was no longer screaming, so I drove him to the hospital (about 5 minutes away), he got admitted right away. I didn't stay long to see exactly what his injuries are, I work with the guy, so I'm sure I'll see him eventually. I can only guess at what his injuries were...I'm guessin a ligament or tendon had snapped near his elbow, because his arm was dangling at his side and he could not lift it...
Anyways, point of the story, warm up please.
EDIT:
Cliffs:
- Guy did not warm up whatsoever
- Was doing skullcrushers
- Blood curtling scream, blue and purple arm and hand
- Took him to emergency
- He will not be working out or working at his job for a long time
- Point being, warm up

Warmup sets ftw.
I am suprised that this happened when doing skullcrushers. The guy did a few sets of benchpresses first, shouldn't his triceps and elbows already be somewhat warmed up from that?

I'm calling BS on this story. Unless significant time passed after injury this is impossible. Even a massive fracture and bleed takes a while to blow up like that.
