Question How to build muscle over area not chest/abs, not sure what it's called?

Wondering how to build muscle in the general torso area? Like below your chest, and not you abdominals. Pretty much over your ribs. What can I do to gain more mass here?

I believe you are talking about the serratus muscle. You can work it using heavy dumbell and barbell pullovers.

    Correctamundo! (heyyyy.....)

Also, overhead presses with full lockout work this area hard, as do hanging leg raises (straight) to the side.

Depends on a lot of your body construction, for some people, it will just stretch out their rib cage, other will feel it much more in their chest while other will swear to it being a back builder. So it really depends on what day you do them.

Serrratus muscles are worked generally whenever you do pullups, pullovers etc. as a side effect.
