Beer/Alcohol
Im a young dude and although i love bodybuilding and building a great body I also love to party and drink beer. I notice that aslong as I dont eat any food or pizza when im drinkin and just drink beer, the next day I still feel lean and in shape most of the time but have to eat clean a little more. Give me your thoughts or comments. Do you feel the same way? Do you feel weaker? Whats a good beverage to stay lean when drinking? Thanks and Keep LIFTIN THEM WEIGHTS!

no type of alcohol is good for bodybuilding..
You probably look leaner the next day after getting drunk b/c the alcohol dehydrates your body and you look leaner than normal..

Shame on you for drinking underage! I think I may tell your parents!!
LOL..jkjkjk
It's just not worth it for me. Sure, it feels good to have a buzz going, but the work and time it takes for me to feel better afterwards, the hangover...the puking at times, just doesn't seem worth the 4 or 5 hours of partying. Plus, I get the worst munchies when I drink and have to have the greasiest food in existence. I think I'm just over that part of my life...I'm getting old, lol.

First off, yes I'm 17, but drinking age here in Canada is only 19. I drink usually once a week, I think it's a pretty bad idea for a few reasons... One you usually sleep in after so you miss a meal or two, second I find I don't feel like working out the day after a party, 3rd it isn't cheap aha... I'm trying to stop, but I get peer presured a lot by my friends. It can be just as fun to go to a party sober and laugh and the drunks haha... But if you must drink, drink Bacardi superior and coke zero, it has zero carbs and zero sugar, so theres a lot less empty carbs... hope that helps

You'll soon learn it's not worth it. As most above me have mentioned, the next day you'll be lagging energy-wise (if you can even make it to the gym!) and the temptations to indulge in crap-food are often unavoidable when your will is weak b/c of alcohol.
Be proud that you care enough about your health, mind and body to question the value of alcohol as part of your lifestyle.
Also, it is kind of funny to watch other people being drunk. Do that for a few months and your urge to "party" will likely decrease A LOT! You can definitely still go out, have fun and meet people; I certainly do. For the most part, people don't care or notice for longer than 2 seconds about why you're not drinking.

Reasons why drinking sucks for building or maintaining a great bod:
- It severely dehydrates, which makes you look great the morning after but slows your metabolism and inhibits protein synthesis and muscle growth
- Because it is a central nervous system depressant, alcohol reduces your metabolism for several DAYS after a big binge
- Alcohol is a special kind of carb that contains 7 cals/gram. Your body seeks to burn all the alcohol present in your system before it will burn any other source of energy, which means everything else you eat gets stored as fat.
- It's usualy consumed with sugar (mixers, flavors, carbs in beer) which spikes insulin levels which signals your body to store fat.
- The damage usually extends beyond just the one evening because you're likely to oversleep, not eat, and lay around like a useles hung over piece of poo the whole next day.

I think it really depends on 'how much' you are drinking--one or two drinks won't hurt but binge drinking is another thing!!

x2, alcohol also reduces recovery time, and inhibits gains.
