When I do HIIT I do it on an elliptical. I follow the Body for life cardio plan which is 20mins but usually extend it 25-30mins.

I do 15-20 minutes, 5 min warmup 30 sec sprint, 1 min fast walk and 5 min cool down. How many times a week do you do a HIIT session. I'm 10 wks out from my next BB comp. I was thinking just twice a week for now, my BF is at 12.5% now I usually compete at 8-8.5%, never using HIIT before I'm a bit unsure how fast the BF is going to come off. Any suggestions? Also, the elliptical HIIT sounds interesting, can you fill me in? Thanks.

that isn't really HIIT. that's interval training. HIIT would just be 30-45 sec interval repititions of intensity 6 and 10.

I do 20 Minutes, 30 second sprint ~ 30 seconds light jog. Then I do 2 minutes cool down, then stretching. I also stretch for 2 minutes prior to starting.

I do HIIT a little differently than most but it seems to be working as I've lost 12 lbs in 3 weeks. I walk for 2 mins (warmup) run at 7 to 8 mph for 3 minutes, walk 2, run 3, walk 3, run 2 (up it to 8.5 to 9 mph) walk 3 run 2, cool down for 5 minutes.

whats the difference between intervals and HIIT?

i was under the impression they were the same thing,

are intervals where you have 30 min sprint, 1 min slow, repeat
and is HIIT where you have 30 sec sprint, 30 sec slow?

    what is the difference?
    is their one?

Hi guys. I'm 18 years old and retired (due to injury) 400m hurdler.

May I remind you all that when you say 'Sprints' this is a flat out sprint and should only last 10/20 seconds MAX! Those of you saying you sprint for 60 seconds, maybe turn down the time and up the intensity! You'll see results!

Using HIIT 3x a week (20 second Sprints 40 seconds fast walk) and also slow cardio I got down to 5.7% BF in the summer.

I run to the park (5 minutes) perform 10 sets of the above, and then slow jog home! Done in just 20 minutes!

I do a 5 minute warm-up walk then 1 minute max followed by 90 second walk, repeat 6 cycles and 5 minute cool down walk.

    So about 25 minutes total.
