How Can I Graph This Data? I am not sure what's best way...
Okay basically I have a workout journal where i record my workouts: sets, weights, reps.
I wana be able to input it all into excel worksheet with POUNDAGE on Y-AXIS and DATES on the X-AXIS. Different COLORED LINES will represent the exercise (ie: benchpress, leg curl, etc).
The only problem is WHERE DO I FIT REPS IN??
Like if I do different number of reps from workout to workout, like less reps, more weight, how do I factor that in?
I've thought about multiplying weight (200lbs 4 reps = 800 lbs....but then it's alot easier to do 100 lbs 8 times..so that would screw with system).
Someone out there please tell me what I should do? Should I use a ONE REP MAX Bench calculator for each exercise?....
Yes, using a graph....I already mentioned the problem i had in determining exact numbers to put if I want to graph it all on a chart. I was not sure **one rep max calculators** would work for this...
OR if i should ignore reps all together cuz i won't change too much with reps anywayss..
That's a good idea. Help you get an idea of overall progress of a long period of time.
Use a 1RM calculator - you can put the formulae into Excel. They're not always horribly accurate, but it's probably the best option you have. Plus, even if it isn't perfectly accurate, at least it will be consistent.
Is there anyone here that's good with excel that I could send my data to? I am really having a hard time with graphing it, like it keeps showing stuff I don't want, and the lines do not match the values....
Please if anyone is good with excel please let me send it to you and explain how I want it.
this is what I do, I use a tablet and a pencil so I'm sorry if this dosn't work for excell I dunno what's up there
I put the lift accross the top (sorry it's been awhile since I delt with graphs by technical names)
down on the left I put the day
then in each intersection/space I put the weight and the reps
if I do multiple sets I just add to the top
so if I do 3 sets of Bench it'd be
Bench Bench Bench
100 2 100 2 100 2
that'd be 3 doubles (sets of 2) at 100 lbs done on whatever day I'd have off to the left
that's hwo I do it
I made this up real fast. I'm gonna start using one to keep track of my workout. Its a screen capture since of an *.xls file (Excel) Tell me what you want done and I'll see what I can do.
if there was anyway you could make up a template for that form of graph and test with whatever numbers u want (cuz u cant read mine anyways probly) then id b realllly greatful (id rep of course too lol ) but seriously it would help me out so much.
btw i only train each muscle group once a week, so basically they all wouldnt start at the same time and they'd overlap eachother. there would only be a point for each exercise every 7 days. (incase u needed to know)
I'll have something ready for you tomorrow morning. I would do it today, but I'm just about ready to get off of work, and I'm heading home to get some sleep.
Here's a generic starter. If this is what you want, then enjoy. Otherwise, if you'd like to see anything else on it, let me know....as this one is rather simple. In this one, I've given you the option for 10-week, 26-week, and 52-week tracking, as well as some extra rows for additional exercises (where's your chest workout and dead lifts? :P)
I'm currently developing a much larger and more detailed spreadsheet for myself...adding pieces to it here and there. It will track nutrition, personal stats, cardio, weight training, graphs to track progress (like this one), and some popular calculators built into it. If you would like a copy of it when it is finished, let me know.
