    Whats the difference?

would there be a benefit between burning (running or w/e) 200 calories and eating 2200 calories as opposed to eating 2000 calories? (other than cardiovascular reasons)

Eating 2200 calories and running 200 off is going to be better for you.

Of course, eating 2000 (depending on weight / bmr) and running 200 is even better.

The excersise gains muscle and fitness for one.

And also as above, energy turnover.. that is a good article.

Running makes you work, and I can certainly feel the effect after I'm done working.

200 calories burned only take into account the calories burned during exercise. Your body will burn more calories post exercise than it would normally burn if you just sat around because your post-wo heart rate will be elevated.

and yes the cardiovascular benefits is so important especially for bodybuilders who are considered medically overweight. Remember, the more you weigh, even if its all muscle, the more your heart has to work.
