Women being made unwelcome

Ladies,

Hi I usually post in the Australian thread, but all the women have disappeared there. (I'm not talking about the old Australian thread, that was closed down then the topic turned to pedophelia).

Do you think Australian men have an issue with women?

I have to say, I have many a time gone in there to introduce myself as a resident Aussie but have seen the posts being made and ran in the opposite direction. I don't know what it is in particular, I won't say it's Aussie men that have a problem with women because all the Aussie men in my life are lovely and would never say things like the posts you've got highlighted there, but I do find that a lot of the active male posters on bb.com from Australia do seem to have a very negative attitude towards females - particularly the ones that post in the official Australian thread. I never go in there for that reason.

I AM NOT SAYING THAT ALL AUSSIE MALE BB.COM MEMBERS ARE LIKE THAT. Just from what I've seen, a lot are

I lived in Australia for a couple of years when I was a kid. Of couse, being a kid, I might not have noticed, but Australian men never struck me as people who would say things like that. Both my parents loved living there, and they wouldn't have if the Australians behaved in a way that was so demeaning to...not just women...but anyone. I was 10 when we left Australia...I do think I would have been old enough to pick up on something like that if that is how Australians were in general.

I HAVE heard things like that come out of American mouths, too. I think it's best not to encourage judging an entire nation's men based on a few of people's actions.

It does suck that apparently such a high percentage of the Australian BBing.com posters are making Australian men look like asses, though...I guess that's what brings this up.

I'm Aussie..

I agree with many of the above posts in that this is not an "Australian Male" thing. There are 'men' on these boards from many countries who have 'issues' with females - especially those females who have muscular physiques.

Most of the time these 'men' are testosterone filled teenage males trying to make themselves feel big (no offense to other males, but this is, generally, what is happening) and so they don't really pay you attention if you:
1. don't have boobies showing in your piccies
2. don't have butt shots in your piccies
3. don't offer soft porn on your bodyspace

Don't get me wrong - MOST men here are very respectful and are encouraging to woman who train.... BUT there are those individuals who make it known that you are 'less than attractive' if you desire more bicep than boob.

Anyway - I certainly wouldn't mind chatting to other like minded Aussies should I get the chance (*waves to other Aussies*) but I simply don't really visit the misc. section so I would never have seen the thread anyway!!

Emma-Leigh, one of the other moderators closed down the old thread because of this behaviour and sent warnings.

Its time to send a clear message and close that thread down for good.

Then again we hardly ever have offensive/sexist/derogotory conversations in the Aussie thread .. it was 1 post, which was CLEARLY a joke - some people just have a different sense of humor than others

Those guys were being completely tongue-in-cheek and stupid, and again, very silly.

I have posted on the Aussie thread for ages and will testify none of the guys are sexist (ie against women).

If anybody should be anti-women it's me cause I'm gay, but GregT is completely out of line with his tabloid magazine style random quotes.

Why would a mod close an entire thread based on 2 posts?

The usual thing is to ban the posters not close a thread.
