Metabolism Reset (reps for help)

My mom finally decided to lose weight and came to me for help since i use to be obese and lost it all. I went over what she eats everyday and the calories are really low all from carbs and fat. Shes taking like 500-1000 daily and usually 2000-3000 on the weekends. Her diet is crap so i set one up for her which is the basic 6 small meals a day thing. The thing is i think her metabolism is really screwed cause shes told me she tried losing weight by not eating before (dumb) and hardly lost anything at all. I think it would be good to eat at maintinence for 1-2 weeks then cut 500 calories daily. Anyone know if this is enouph time to reset metabolism? thanks

It all depends some time if you don't eat or don't eat a nuff you can mess up your metabolism for 2 month's.

You can't 'reset', you work yourself over time into a bad metabolism so you need to work yourself over time into a good metabolism. Point is, it takes time.

Gonna say.
For her its not quite as bad, but 500 is insane.
