I kind of want to become a personal trainer. I was wondering if anyone on here is a personal trainer, and what kind of schooling do you need?
Sorry if this is the wrong section.

To be a personal trainer all you need is certification.
ACE certification is probably the most popular one in america, there are many others.
All you have to do to get certified is pass an exam.
You'd probably be well off getting an actual degree as well, Kineseology (sp?) or exercise science.2 years
Starting weight/height = 119lbs / 5'8"
Current weight/height - 185lbs / 5'8"
Bulking 'til 230lbs or when the Buffalo Bills have a winning season. Whichever comes first.
Step 1) Pick up a weight and a small farm animal.
Step 2) Lift one and eat the other.

MY plans
It is good to have a college education before you look into personal training. I am going to receive my associates degree in Physical Education and then i am going to become a personal trainer. The more you know the better you will be. Get the most out of college if you go. I learned so much all ready. There is so many certifications out there, google it. Compare prices, benefits, etc.

I am a senior in college this fall majoring in kinesiology. If you are willing to go through some tough courses to get to the fun and interesting ones to learn a lot of great info from some people who have been studying this stuff for a long time and hae PHD's then it's for you. I can honestly say I cannot wait for school this fall I got some real interesting classes.

depends really. The thing about being a personal trainer if you are not working for a company that just hires anyone and you are actually getting payed by your clients and not primarily your employer it's hit or miss. You need to get out and advertise your service, you have to make people want to be trained by you and you have to motivate them to actually follow through with it.
If you can do that you can make a lot of money depending upon your location. For instance florida or california would be ideal spots to do this. I live in massachusetts so i won't be making as much as I could else where. But usually they can make up to around 30k-50k as long as they have a steady client base to work off of. If you get into the more elite category you can think about making into the 100k mark... but really thats sort of something not many can actually do. It's not a job I plan on having forever unless I can do that. I plan on eventually going back to school getting my masters maybe my PHD someday possibly become some kind of strength and conditioning coach or an endocrinologist as that field some what interests me.
but yeah average is around 35k
I could care less about money I am more focused on being happy... of course just as long as I can support myself, my family and my hobbies I will be just fine.
