Anyone swim to burn calories instead of running?(serious)
I like swimming better than running, more refreshing. Plus, i use my shoulders and arms more! I still run tho.

I've done it in the past because of injuries to my knees when playing football. I like the fact that there is no impact. Great cardio workout too!

I agree, I do like it more... but I run more...kind of the feeling that if I don't like it, it is probably good for me/ better for me than swimming

i swim and run almost everyday, they both get old.. if i had to choose i wouldnt know..
swimming is less exhausting, but u have to get changed
running can be done anywhere, but it hurts, especially the knees, and u still have to get changed unless u like wearing sweaty clothes..

yup, it's much easier to just go to my back yard to run around my neighbor hood.
plus I hate running, and swimming works up a GREAT appetite compared to running.

I did that last year. Way better than running. But I do not trust my swimming pool anymore. Too many kids in the building.

swimming to burn calories is better because the water reduces your body temperature meaning your body has to burn more calories to produce heat
while running, your body increases body temperature and you get hot and sweaty so you dont spend more calories to increase body temp
you sweat doing both

my gym has a pool, so i usually try to swim on my off days. only thing is, there's a lot of kids in the pool, and most people here don't understand how to share lanes. still, even though a rock has better swimming skills than me, i find it very enjoyable and a great workout.
