Got test?
Do pros lie about their bodyweight?
I don't know if the pros are actually weighed or not, but I was wondering if the bodyweights quoted are exaggerated?
BBing is show business, and it is trying to project a larger-than-life image, so why not?
I heard that Cutler actually weighs 206. Just kidding.

I can see temptation to lie, but they look every bit of their weight to me. Hell sometimes I think the underestimate their weight. I know the WWE stars usually are slightly overestimated. I was at an event a few years back where a buddy bought tickets that were right next to the ramp they come down. After a match we got in a shouting match with Mr. Perfect (this was shortly before he died) and he was smaller than me ( I was 240ish then) and I'm sure they claimed he was bigger than that. Also Brian Urlacher was right in front of us in the 1st row and he looked huge compared to most of the wrestlers (he is supposedly 245-250).

Cool stories!
I was thinking about wrestlers too. Didn't Hulk Hogan say he had 30" arms?
Thanks.

When I played Highschool basketball and they would call us out the announcer would pad our heights. Like theyd say I was a "6'3" seinor!! LOL, i'm barely 6'1. But, I think pros may only pad their stats just a tad. Like Rounding up. You know like say if today, you missed a meal or whatever and you were 3 or 4 pounds off of your usual. So you know if you are like 238 actually, you'd say you are 243. Some pros may say they are 300 when they are really 290ish. I'd say its possible and it may be done.

Hey DeezNuutz what's up? When I played football in college I was "supposedly" 6'5" 215 ... haha
I personally don't think that pros inflate their body weight stats ... maybe measurements such as bicep, chest, quad, etc. Aren't there mandatory weigh-ins at the competition? That would verify a pro's claimed weight.

I think that was in Rocky 3...he was also 7 feet tall

What about this though. You're a competing pro, and your competition is saying they weigh 250, 260, or 270, and you're being interviewed for a magazine or online story, and you know you only weigh 240. No way in hell are you giving a psychological advantage to the other competitors, so you say you weighed 262 this morning. Why not? All's fair in love and bbing competitions. haha

If I was only 230 and I looked as good as 270 pounders, I'd flaunt my weight all over the pages. I'd take screen shots of every scale just to rub it in their faces that I was so light. Cutler used to lie like ****, he claimed to be like 296 a couple years back, yet he was 310 12 weeks before. And we all know Cutler loses more than 14 pounds to get ready for a show.

Gorilla Muscle
I'm pretty sure in some of Cutler's vids (definitely One Step Closer) he weighs himself several times throughout the dvd. I'm pretty sure he was in the 270's or 280's... it was a few weeks out from the olympia.

What up Haggy?!
I read an article (in flex of all places) that the pros rarely get weighed @ a show. If you were to ask a pro to get on the scale they'd run from you. No Bs. I actually read that and they were sayin that Dex Jackson is much lighter than he is listed. I can only tell you I read it since I don't have the time to go through the Mountain of BB mags I have. But really, I think some pros do. And some pros don't need to.

The last Olympia where everyone was weighed was in 1988, and it was shown that most of the guys were exaggerating their weight by some. All except for Lee Haney, I remember, who weighed in at 243. Gary Strydom, supposedly at least the same size, was 230-something, although he was pretty flat that day.

Oddly enough...most pros do not lie about their weight.
A few years ago...this notion was challenged, and Lonnie Teper from I.M. magazine added a weigh-in at the I.M Pro...virtually all of the pro's weighed in almost to the pound they predicted they would.

I won't believe that until it is verified by Ozzyfan.

Also remeber bodyweight fluctuates, after a dump in the morning you could easily be 10lbs lighter than at night after 8 meals and water etc. So even if the weights quoted were out they might not even know unless they carry a set of scales around with them.

LOL! 10lbs?! Wow! That's one serious dump requiring several "courtesy flushes". Imagine somebody dropping that at your house and not flushing...oy!

Oh, ok -- that makes more sense. Although we all know that its just a matter of time before someone in the misc. takes a ten pound dump . . .

I think they probaly lie about their weight but they definately lie about their height. I don't think they are as tall as they are listed.

Damage control??
How do you figure? The pro's give their projected weight, and then step on a scale to verify it....pretty tough to get around that.
BTW...this event is filmed....

I figure because I didn't see the numbers myself. And I have to take your word for it, and you're a pro BBer who fibs about his weight.
Seriously though, I believe you. Thanks for the info!

The real weight that the pros lie about is the weight they move in the gym.
For example: Darrem Charles does not squat 700 for 10 reps, no matter what he says (and he said it in an issue of Flex magazine).
And of course, some of them lie about waist and arm size, too. Does anyone honestly believe that King Kamali has 21 inch arms onstage? I don't.

Jean-Paul, they fib about poundages lifted, and they're 100% honest about their bodyweight???
Heck, I just think about myself. If someone asks me what I weigh, and I know I'm right at say 210, I'll say 215. If I'm 215, I'll say 221, or something similar. I figure, just like me, the pros put their pants on one-leg-at-a-time.

You've got a good point there. I just think that they prioritize lying about poundages lifted.
If you were to lie about your weight the same way Darrem Charles lied about his squat poundage, when you are at 210, you'd be telling everyone you are at 440.
If a guy tells the truth while everyone else is lying, he looks bad. For example, if a guy is honest that his arms are "only" 20 inches, and that he weighs "only" 230, and that he "only" squats about 365 for a workout while everyone is claiming 23 inch arms, 250 pounds of bodyweight, and squat workouts in the 600 or 700 pound range, he looks weak.
That doesn't excuse the lying, of course.
But seriously, I don't take much of what is said by the pros, who never cease to imply that a particular protein shake or creatine pill is the reason they look the way they do, at face value. Question everything.
