To start i have always been an ecto. I weighed in at 115lbs at 5"10 in the begining of grade nine (two years ago). Since then ive been hiting the gym and in the last 6 or so months i have really be getting my bulking diet in check.
In the last two years I have gained 50lbs with very little fat gain. So yes great progress...All my main lifts have at least doubled.
Basically my life is centered around eating. I mean I plan stuff around my 6 meals/shakes. If i get off my meal plan for a few days I drop pounds faster then you could believe. I was sick awhile ago and lost 7lbs in a week.
On top of this i seem to be prone to sore throaghts and colds and they last forever with me like 2 weeks or so. The doctors say it is because my system is stressed...ie. Growing, rowing 4 times a week, weighlifting, ect. And my parents are saying that my diet of 4000cals a day is stressing my whole system.
I never took this seriously but this summer ive been sick for about 2 and half weeks. First an infection of the yeast fungus in my throaght and then aparently a virus wich is taking quite a long time to get better. I mean I have the disipline and everything to keep up my diet but i dont think i will be able to do it if i know it is having a negative effect on my overall health. I eat untill im about to throw up basically everyday. I am super ecto so that is what it takes for me to gain muscle.
When it comes down to it yes, your overall health is more important then muscles. But with my new body I can honestly say life is more enjoyable. I have a great girlfriend, ppl respect me, ect. Theres is nothing like the feeling of being refered to as the buff guy on the rowing team after going through many years of being called skinny. But these sore throats and other ailments are too much to handle, my parents want me to tone down the diet but i just know ill start losing muscle if i do. Its like...Being buff gives me more enjoyment outa life but at the same time, what it takes to get buff leaves me little time to enjoy myself.
I am seeing a nutrition expert soon but I predict she will tell me what a "healthy" diet is having no knowledge of bodybuilding. Basically is having 4000clas a day bad for your overall health?

wow dude we are almost exactly alike! what i do is i take advil or ibuprofen before bed at night, not only does it relieve inflammation of the muscles, but it strengthens your immune system. also, drink alot of orange juice. the vitamin c is essential. or you may take a vitamin c tablet
hope i helped ya out a lil =]

I eat a lot more than you and have no problems, i don't see why 4k is a problem especially when bulking.
Prepare to be told a lot of bull**** about your protein intake, always fun to listen to them rant on about it.2 years
Starting weight/height = 119lbs / 5'8"
Current weight/height - 185lbs / 5'8"
Bulking 'til 230lbs or when the Buffalo Bills have a winning season. Whichever comes first.
Step 1) Pick up a weight and a small farm animal.
Step 2) Lift one and eat the other.

screw the whole 4k calories... start doing trial and error.... start at 2k ... and work your way up to where your body best responds to recovery, gains, and energy... everybody has their own area some do 3k some do 4k.... if your body responds around 3k and your doing 4k your just taking in extra calories that could be turned into fat storage...

Yes i suppose i could try working my way up. The thing is if i miss a meal I dont have my usually weight gain. If I stick to my perfect diet of 4000cals I usually gain like .5 pounds every 2 or so days but of course life happens and there are always litte set backs.
If i miss a meal I probly wont loose any weight, but wont gain much. But if I missed 2 meals in a day i would def. be lighter the next morning. Now this could be just a loss of food in my stomach...maybe i would stabilize after awhile but ive never been too keen on experimenting with losing the weight I worked so hard to gain.
And the thing with the 4000cals is that is actaully the maximum i could eat I literally cannot finish one more bite of a meal sometimes. I just dont gain fat lol.
