I don't understand men! What goes on in their minds???
Guys constantly try to hit on me in the gym in the most inopportune times.
A few months ago a guy tried to talk to me while I was on the elliptical ...from 4 machines away!! I am not even kidding ... he practically had to yell "Hey, whats up!" for the whole gym to hear.
Another time recently a guy attempted a conversation from the treadmill next to me...while I was running...with my ipod on. I had to take off my earbuds and respond between breaths.
TODAY. . .a guy kept trying to talk me by the freeweights during my arm routine. Between each set it was a new topic.. . ."soo, you go to ASU? what are you studying? etc" and it was really delaying my session.
I am a friendly person, but my hour in the gym is my time to be in the zone.

I guess this is why they have alot of female only gyms. A male's mind works on the basis of limited time. Meaning that we're supposed to mate with as many females as possible and we have to beat out other males in the process.
When a female is universally attractive, there is not much that can be done. You would be wise not to wear tight or revealing clothing and drop the make-up. Most females will claim that they don't wear revealing clothes etc, but they don't know how perceptive the male mind is to the female body.
For now, take it as a postitve boost for your ego -30-

Even if they are just trying to start friendly conversation, I don't quite understand why it must be done while I am running.
I see your point, Below, with males and their tendencies when looking for a mate, lol. I actually wear pants and a tank top while I don't think is too revealing, plus I am the sweatiest person I know when I workout, its disgusting.
I don't see why there is so much demand to see pictures because that is beside the point. I am certainly not a hottie with a body or anything. if you gotta see something you can check out my page at www.myspace.com/laura_rider

LOL you guys crack me up.
I can see where this would come off as snobby, but it's not just me - my roomate gets it all the time too. Maybe its just our gym - its only 10$ a month so maybe that could say something about its members (myself included, as in I am PO' FOLK!)
The headphone thing seems like a good idea, I think I might have already done that on accident already hah!
On running outside - I live in Phoenix, AZ - I would get heatstroke if I ran outside, otherwise that would be a gloryhole.

Are you serious? What a dumb comment, can you IMAGINE how annoying it would be if someone you didn't know tried talking to you while your on a runnig machine? It's impossible to speak to someone and properly focus on those machines, it would piss me off so much.
Free weights is slightly different, as long as its not during your set and not after EVERY single set you do, that would start annoying me.
I reckon most of the guys here who say your over-reacting are just the guys who try and hit on girls at their gym all the time and fail =p
It's actually dangerous to be running and some random person tries talking to you, I've seen tons of people fall over on treadmills when staff have tried to say something to them and they've turned around, lost concentration and fallen off.Tell me what you regard as your greatest strength, so I will know how best to undermine you. Tell me of your greatest fear, so I will know what I must force you to face. Tell me what you cherish most, so I will know what to take from you. And tell me what you crave, so that I might deny you.

Your myspace pictures kind of contradict what you are saying, and I feel you are either a) fake, and/or b) fishing for compliments. No.
No you would not get heatstroke, I've been running in 39 degree weather, drank a 2 litre bottle of water on a 35 minute run, but no heatstroke, suck it up and start hitting the asphalt if running in a gym is too hard.Last edited by Mernalous; 07-28-2007 at 05:57 PM.

She didn't post pics at the beginning of her thread, in fact it was after about 5-6 'Pics plz' that she posted them, doesn't look like she was fishing for compliments origionally...
What do you mean fake?
Sh!t, there's so many guys on this part of the forum who are threatened by chicks that they act so hostile towards them, its embarrassing...Tell me what you regard as your greatest strength, so I will know how best to undermine you. Tell me of your greatest fear, so I will know what I must force you to face. Tell me what you cherish most, so I will know what to take from you. And tell me what you crave, so that I might deny you.

Well firstly, new poster, and considering the amount of trolls there have been, well you would be a bit pessimistic as well. She mentioned that she wasn't a "hotty with a bod", however both us and her(him?) know otherwise, it's an age old trick "Oh I'm not that good looking... Just average ya know.." To which the guy is meant to reply "No way, your like beautiful and gorgeous ect~insert other ego boosts~", that's called fishing for compliments.
Any why 4 minutes rest between sets!? You should utilize about 2 minutes AT MOST, unless you are power-lifting, I found 1 minute rests on the dot gave me enough time to let my muscles rest, get a good stretch whilst still maintaining the pump and not giving my mind enough time to wander. But I digress.

I know lots of chicks do fish for compliments like that, but she didn't actually post a pic of her in the origional post, only after tons of people asked. And then what is she meant to say: "here I am, smokin hot and I know it motherf!cker!"
About the rests: Check the siggy, I train for powerlifting =) Well, powerbuilding more like. It depends on what exercise it is, but for the main compounds at beginning of training, bench, pullups, deads, squats etc, i always take long rest perios. I shorted to around 2 mins for smaller, accessory exercises though.Tell me what you regard as your greatest strength, so I will know how best to undermine you. Tell me of your greatest fear, so I will know what I must force you to face. Tell me what you cherish most, so I will know what to take from you. And tell me what you crave, so that I might deny you.

Well there was no need for her to say that she was average, when she obviously knows she isn't.
Good luck at the comp, I don't usually read signatures so my bad! Though switching up rest times can't be bad at all, lower the weight a bit and do some speed sets with 1 minute rest, might find it could help you through the tough phases of your max's.
