Girls, Do guys give you a hard time because you lift weights?
The guys I know seem to have a problem with it, they think just because I lift weights I will end up looking like Arnold..I tell them that's impossible unless I was taking steroids, and besides I don't lift much weight at all, I only bench 13 lbs (with 4 sets of 20)...and my dumbells are 5 lbs. My ex actually said he wanted to get me fat and would criticize the way I ate & would get mad when I wouldn't eat anything at Burger King with him, he actually threw away my protein powder! I don't know it just seems like if I'm talking to a guy who doesn't workout/lift weights they make a big deal about me working out.

I don't get alot of crap from guys who work out themselves. Its the ones who are overweight or just basically in crappy health who seem to have the hardest time seeing a chick with some muscle.
I just tell them until they pay for my membership, buy and prepare my food, or buy my clothes or until my husband has a problem with me being healthy, they can shove it.

I haven't gotten a hard time for it but then again I don't mention it to guys who don't lift weights or bring up the topic themselves. I get mostly positive responses when I say I work out a lot but I play it down quite a bit unless I'm with people who are obviously like-minded. I just try not to make a big deal out of it either way. I've noticed that if you fuss over it a lot it makes guys insecure easily.

I believe a women should not risk any of her body in working out in order to give birth to the most healthy baby possible.
Cardio is ok but weight lifting is risky.

No.
I don't have dumb male friends like that. Men with common sense and decent IQs would never give me a hard time lifting weights. I do my best to have those types of males around me.

I get made fun all the time because Im really into lifting. Im always being told by guys that its unattractive for a woman to lift the way I do and to be as muscular as I am. It's what I love and its who I am so screw them.

Find a guy who shares your passion in fitness and/or bodybuilding.
Seriously, most of us would give our left nuts for a girl who will be as much into bb/fitness as we are.

I never get sh*t for lifting weights, most guys absolutely love the fact that I have definition.
anyone who tried to put me down would get a barbell to the face

I had no idea they had a female misc, but I wished my girl friends worked out, unfortunately the majority of them might do a little cardio. Even in my gym, hardly any girls do free weights.

and that's why they don't look anywhere near as good as us fabulouso weight lifting girlies.
A lot of guys think that
weights = big muscles
when in fact
weights = curves, perkiness & definition
Get yr girls to look at some of the profiles on this site that might encourage them to start on the weights a bit more

A hard time in the way of thinking that my lifting weights is an excuse to feel up my biceps or ask me to flex? Sometimes. LOL
It's very rare that men have anything negative to say to me about lifting weights. Normally, they're only negative in the way of thinking about what a PITA lifting and eating the way I do would be for themselves. Or, they hint around about whether I only find really muscular/in-shape guys attractive. Every so often, someone will be "concerned" that I might want to take some vitamin S to continue growing (I don't), but they generally seem to like the muscle I have now and don't have a problem with the thought that I want to get a bit bigger so long as I do it naturally.

Tough to argue that point when looking at your torso. Hit the nail on the head, most guys do think like that.

Unfortunately some of us don't have the option of picking who we're around all the time, for example: at work. I get the ****tards who are probably the kids that ate the lead based paint when they were little for coworkers.

OMG!!!!! Now that's a stupid thing to say to a female.
This is when it pays to be tall. Men think twice before saying something stupid to me.

My parents jokingly tell me that I have the arms and shoulders of a man, but I take that as a compliment. Fortunately I haven't faced any negativity from males in regards to lifting weights....they actually support me.

I love seeing women lift weights, I encourage all female friends and relatives to do so if they choose. I love seeing my wife workout with weights. Any guy out there that has issues with women working out with weights is obviously an insecure person.

WTF?
I hate the word, "cooter," too. You should have dropped a 45 on his foot just for that (yes, bring one to work just for the event ), regardless of why he used the word just cuz it annoyed me. LOL
