Shock Therapy: Lunges

I used to think Lunges was for wussies until my leg partner wanted us to try them that was 6 months ago and my thighs and heart are thanking me.....

Dumbell walking lunges after 5 sets of Heavy Squattin'

3 sets in a row the only time you rest is to grab that next weight

sets 1, 2 & 3
60lb Dumbells
50lb Dumbells
40lb Dumbells

Grab the 60's walk up and back probably like 15ft one way
Grab the 50's up and back
Grab the 40's up and back

after 3 sets in a row of this if your heart is not ready to explode out of your chest your either a marathon runner or just didn't push it that hard.....

we do this 3 times.....so 9 sets just for lunges

My thighs have exploded in growth from this.......

Sounds awesome. Lunges are definately not a wussy exercise. The only reason people think of it as wussy is because you usually only see chicks with 5 pound dumbells doing them. If you only ever saw people squatting with just the bar it'd be thought of as a wussy exercise too.

Question about the Lunges,...Was going to create a separate thread but saw yours. Hope you don't mind,....

Can Lunges stress the lower back? I hadn't done lunges in about forever,a nd started a new routine this week which includes them. I burned them out pretty good, and the second day afterwards, my lower back is killing me. I could recall doing anything else at work that would have made it hurt. The only thing I could come up with the past few days was the lunges,....It hurts bad,..Not muscle pain, but like I injured or strained it,...

This routine is pretty much an all around upper lower split. I'm adding a bit of extra attention to my legs in hopes of some growth,..Hope it works for me as well,....Need some mass on my legs,...

Thanks,....>>--->

Am I the only one that dreads lunges the worst out of any exercise possible? I hate taking that step and having to concentrate on my balance. This is also probably the only exercise that makes me excessively sweat

I had a friend that sprained his back during lunges and he's been scared to lift ever since.

I think just like any other lift you need to learn how to do it, keep your form in check and progress the weight slowly. If you use too much weight and cheat with curving your lower back it'll suck.
