Since I hate running outside I have recently required an old exercise bike. It has a timer, and a mph guage with a mileage meter in the center. I was wondering what intensity I should be using the bike at and for how long I should be on it. Any idea for a mileage: time goal?

Get an HRM. My recommendation is the A5 from www.polar.com
Now that you have your HRM, train within 65-85% of your max HR in the morning on an empty stomach. Before you hop on though, take some BCAA's and some glutamine to hold on to that hard earned muscle. Train 20-60 mins and eat big afterwards.
This is such a pain in the ass (for me at least) but does wonders.

It's good to go by your Target Heart Rate, but usually I forget about all the scientific bull**** and do what my body tells me to do. In other words, if I'm doing cardio and I know it feels great, yet I'm still able to speak normally (while doing cardio), I know I'm doing good. Keep it up at an intense level for you, and nice and slow...just like I said...where you feel it work well, yet you're still able to talk (Talk Test). I usually do cardio for 30-45 min (depending on what I'm training for).
