How to gain 5 pounds per week?

Is it possible to gain 5 clean pounds per week? If so, how can I do it? I've got all my nutrition and daily diet set up for lots of calories and carbs, protiens and such. What will I need to do to gain at least 5 pounds a week? Thanks a lot!

in the beginning of bulking and starting lifting heavy it is possible. After a while you should be aiming for anything over 1lb a month.

5lbs a week for how long?

it wont be every week that you gain, or else you'll be 400lbs by the end of the year.

i can see adding 5lbs each week for maybe 2 months max. you'll really need to up your calorie intake.

if you want to weigh say 210lbs... you'll need to take in as many calories that a 210lb person requires to maintain that weight.

    3lbs a week...for how long?

what percentage of that was likely lean muscle?

the reason your progress slowed after you hit 200lbs was probably because you needed more food. you have to continually increase calories to gain.

Oh and SD I'll answer that question. None of it was lean muscle. It was all fat, and all in his head. HA!

5lbs of muscle a week? not to busrt your bubble but it wont happen. if you do actually gain 5 lbs a week, 4 lbs of it will be fat. think about it, gaining 4 lbs of muscle a month has you on track to gain (4 * 12 ) = 48lbs of muscle a year, which is amazing and totally possible, but 5 lbs of muscle a week is just not going to happen

Yeah, if we could gain 5 lbs a week...anyone could be huge. Some guy on a new years resolution, who gives up after two months would be 40 pounds bigger ! If you have EVERYTHING set up perfectly (diet, training, rest, supplements), 2 lbs a week is realistic.

lol you gotta be kidding me.

unless your are the corss breed-genetic of ronnie coleman and arnold scwarzenegger, you wont gain 5 pounds a week

no you wont get buff in 6 weeks

it takes time, alot of time
if youre thinking you can become a muscleman in 6 weeks, stop, dont even try, you wont waste any time.
now go do some reading before you try crazy ****, coz even with a dream stack, perfect diet and uber intense training, you will not, i repeat, will not gain 5 pounds a week.

i really did gain 55lbs in 6 months when my wife was pregnant.... we ate a Waffle Hose every single night at 2 in the morning.

Two sausage egg and cheese sandwiches, triple order of hash browns covered with onions, cheese and gravy, and 3 scambled eggs covered w/ cheese.

I went from a lean 160 to 215 with a gut! I was at my strongest ever but wow was i ugly! It took me 2 years to get down to 180lb with the same bf% i had when i was 160.

even that is only 2.5lbs a week!

i havent been to Waffle House since I was in South Carolina in 2002. Man, those things are on every street corner there!

Here in Arizona there's a couple but they're too far from my house. I have to settle for IHOP or Denny's.

I used to travel to the south quite a bit. Whenever I went down there I always hit up Waffle House. Yes, there are every 10 feet down there.

There is *one* near me that opened recently. Its not the same. It's not as good as the ones in the south. I dont know what they do to the friggin food down there (lard?) but it just tastes different up here.

Still, its pretty gosh durn good.

IHOP aint bad either. Denny's is ehhh

Ok, this thread is now officially off topic. I'm sorry. Leaving now.

Maybe I made it confusing for you guys, I probably worded it wrong or something. What I want to do. I am 140 lbs at 5'10 right now. My goal is to get up to 160-165 lbs. This will add a little mass to my body. I then want to start cutting down my body fat to about 7% or so to get that ripped look. I know its not possible to gain 5 lbs of muscle a week, but is it possible to gain 5 lbs fat/muscle a week? If so, how could I do it? Thanks!

i think you'd be better off by just lifiting and eating clean.

you said earlier you wanted to gain 30lbs in 6 weeks....

if your deadline is 6 weeks, just lift hard and heavy. if you're new to lifting, you can get probably get 10lbs of lean muscle in that amount of time

Hey SDFlipstyle, thanks for the help! Is there any certain lifting routine you would suggest for the best results for what I am wanting to do? I was thinking about doing the 3 Day workout for mass program with 1 set till failure thing. Would this be a good choice? I want something for 3 days a week. Thanks a lot!

2 lbs of lean mass a week means you're either in the top .000001% genetically, or you've got some good pharmaceuticals going on. Even on juice, 3 lbs a week would be a good indication that you're just getting fat (water weight notwithstanding)

If you are looking to gain that much weight, then you should be more concerned with your diet than your weight lifting program. You'll need a **** load of cals. 5 lbs a week would be about 17,500 calories more than you are currently eating per week if your weight is steady. I would aim for about 2 lbs a week as a goal (this will be fat and muscle). Any more gained than that is most likely fat if you are a natural trainer.

For cals I would aim for 20 X bodyweight. For you thats about 145 X 20 = 2900 calories per day. You should aim for around 200 grams of protein per day, and limit fat to no more than 20% of your cals (580 cals 65 grams). Get the rest of you calories from quality carbs. Eat 6-8 meals per day. Increase your calories as you gain weight using the formula above. If you aren't gaining using 21 or 22 instead of 20.
