I am only asking this because I want to know if it has some sort of side effect on how you grow. It seems everybody at the gym I go to, is like 5'9" below. Do you lose height as you body build, or do they bodybuild because they are short?
Its kind of funny me going to the gym, everytime I sit down at the equipment I have to adjust something. I 'm about 6'3" 340 lbs (30% bf). Everyone there looks at me like I'm some sort of freak lol

Why are body builders so small (short) ?

Well, 10 pounds of muscle on a 5'7" guy looks a lot more then 10 pounds of muscle on a 6'2" guy.

5'9" is about average height for an adult male, 5'9"....5'10" around there.

tall people have a harder time with free weights especially in squats...
thats probalby why there are more shorter people that bodybuild

I started doing push-ups, pull-ups, and that sort of thing at 8. At 14, when I started seriously shaping my body I was 6'2. And I stayed 6'2 from then on (19 now).
It is usually because bodybuilders start training at a young age, and plus most of them don't have good height genes.

i'm 5'7.5 and I think I have awesome height genes
Actually, i noticed the exact opposite around here. Most bbuilders are taller(5'11+), not many short bbuilders hereBooo

okay
not all bodybuilders are short we average the average bodybuilder is 5 foot 10. and are you sure that you weight 340 pounds. And one more thing bodybuilders have less bodyfat which helps us produce more muscle.
formally known as Massive14. But some weird stuff happened now I am just plain simple liftin14.

I don't think being 5'7 1/2 is having a really good genetics. Not being sarcastic.

Honestly I'm not a big blob of fat. I have a lot on me, but it doesnt look so bad with my build. I am naturally quite big w/ hands big enough to grip a basketball and size 17 1/2 feet. Dont have all my measurements, my my shoulders come about 6" short of filling a standard door frame.

I think that short people have more motivation to bodybuild than tall guys who already have the weight on them naturally. I know that a lot of people I met wanted to get big cause they were so small in school and didn't wanna take **** anymore. So you see these short huge guys walking around the gym getting bigger to kick some tall skinny guy's ass.
People who go around pretending to know everything are annoying those of us who really do.

I think thats a pretty large generalisation i know a lot of tall body builders im personally 6'4", But it might be something to do with littler guys wanting to be big im not sure but they may have little man syndrome and think people will either fear them or respect them if they get bigger.

when you're tall, you're always visible, but people barely notice short people
so i guess short guys work out to be noticed.
hahaha
I'm jus' kidding
I'm 5'8/5'9... I dun really care anymore, up to a year ago I was upset about my height, but there's nothing really that I can do to change it anymore since I'm 20.
last summer I went to meet my cousin in states and he's 5'6 but probably 200 lbs
he's freakin' huge, probably 19' arms, and he told me that height had nothing to do with anything. It's all about confidence anywayz he showed me pictures of his ex-gfs and they were HOT.
so i decided I should stop worryin' about my height and worry about the shape of my body
Plus, bodybuilding gives you self-satisfaction, on the other hand, worrying about one's height gives you nothing but loss of self-esteem.
so i thought if I can't grow tall I'm gonna grow WIDE
lol
btw, I had good genes potential since my dad is 6'3
I started working out when I was 16 but got seriously into it jus' last year
and I never did squats 'til 3 weeks ago
lol
so I dun think bb has anything to do with height.
anywayz, I think I went way off topic
sorry guys...And David said, "The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine." And Saul said to David, "Go, and may the Lord be with you." (1 Samuel 17:37)
Thus David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone, and he struck the Philistine and killed him; but there was no sword in David’s hand. (1 Samuel 17:50)

I'm sick and tired of hearing taller guys whining about why it's so hard to put on mass for them, STOP WHINING AND WORK, I can easily come up with a lot of reasons why tall guys are at an advantage to short guys.. You guys have to stop whining and bitching and realize that muscle does not come easy and EVERYONE has to work hard for it, that excuse is very lame and it holds no water.

Taller guys are inherintly bigger(they have a larger frame), of course if you have a large frame you'll appear much 'bigger', it's pure common sense. What looks more intimidating and built, a 6'5 wide-as-a-door guy or someon who is a dwarf and is built , well sure the dwarf guy is stout, but he has nowhere near the overall mass of the 6'5 guy. When you're taller, usually you're bigger in general, and that includes muscle size.
I don't think tall guys ever whine (including me considering I can build muscle easily) that they can't put on mass, and if they do, they should thank god they're not short instead.
