Im only 5 3 and done growing. Im very strong naturally and i have good lifts. Will being 5 3 make it impossible to win at strongman? How much will it hurt my performance. My weight is a little low now but i know ill hit 180 within a year so thats not an issue.
It seems like i would have an advantage on things like sled drag and dead lift?
Thanks alot, and reps.
And all who look shall see them there,

Weave a circle round him thrice,
And close your eyes with holy dread,
For he on honey-dew hath fed,
And drunk the milk of Paradise.
You would be ****ed on fingals fingers, atlas stones etc. Your bodyweight is too light also to seriously compete imo.
What bout when i hit 180?

most strongman competitors are like 285-400lbs i reckon? :s

Your an idiot... dont comment on things you dont know about.... It is true that you'd be severely hampered in almost every event, but why not try... Do work
Usually 175 under (usually these guys are strictly amateur) 176-200 ( again strictly amateur) 201-231 ( these guys usually can be LW Pros) 231+ HWYs
Look up Grant Higa short strongman, Ive meet him, hell im suppose to train with him this saturday.. Ask him about it on marunde-muscle.com where everyone that comments is a strongman competitor.
Being short does make a lot of events harder.
Max weight in things close to "typical" exercises (squats, deadlifts, etc) the short stoke doesn't hurt.
I am 5'6 and putting stones on a 48" box sucks because it is so high relative to my height. It can also make it harder to flip taller tires and I would imagine we would both be screwed at fingal fingers.
Go and have fun anyway. It is a great time. If your goal is to turn pro, it will be an uphill battle, but nothing is impossible.
It would be tough, since putting things onto platforms would prove to be very difficult, as would the fingers. But on the other hand at 5'3 180 lbs training weight you would be perfectly built to be an incredible 165 pound powerlifter

If hard work pays off then easy work is worthless.
Take a look at what I did, now imagine what I'm about to do
i believe you would do good on certain things like maybe tire flip, and sled but stuff like atlas stones might be harder since you might not have as much reach as others but goodluck on it if you try..you never know what you can do till you try

Being 5'3" will make it practically impossible to win. You are at a severe disadvantage and I seriously doubt you will ever succeed. If your desire is strong enough and it's that important to you then you'll be a man, tell me to fluck off, and go out and win anyway.
dude don't let height hold u back. u can still kick ass.
If anything, u would kick ass in the deadlift events and the farmer walks. all of those are shorter picks. and sometimes for the deadlift events, u might even deadlift the weight at 18" so it'd be an easy pick.
u dont' look that old. are u a teen? u'll probably grow taller in no time

andrew "stumpy" raynes, 5'5", i've tried like hell to find more info about him, all i really know is what's on this page and the fact that he's "probably" retired.. big inspiration for the shorter guys (like me)
What do you mean win??
Win at a local level?
Or win the WSM?
Just do your best. That's all you can do anyway. Whether people say you can win or not on this board won't change what you are capable of. You have to find out what you are capable of on your own.
You can make yourself look taller by doing different things, Believe me, it literally helps.
1. Stretching Exercises: - These exercises will help you improve your posture. You?ll be surprised that how much of ?Height? is hidden behind your slouched back. You can, at any age, add an inch or two of height by simply improving your posture. Follow the link below for information on specific height enhancing exercises: http://walktallshoes.com/grow-taller-exercises.html
2. Second, you can create a ?Taller? effect by following some smart fashion techniques. You can easily add another inch or two of ?illusionary height? by improving your dress coordination. The link below can provide some input on height increase through fashion effect: http://www.walktallshoes.com/how-to-...aller-quiz.htm
There will be a couple events in which you'll be screwed from the start.
For example for tire flips, you'll probably need ****loads of lockout power to push the tire over since the tire is taller than you so you can't get it very high from the pull alone.
It's UriEl btw
Things I will take any chance I get to make fun of:
-HIT
-Frank Zane as Mr. Olympia
-Biceptz boyz
-Fat powerlifters talking thrash about bodybuilding while claiming to close the #x gripper
-Overtraining
-"How can I look like >random 140lbs guy<?"
-HIT
-Self-righteous guys who try to make everybody sound racist.
-Phil Heath for Mr. Olympia
-Strength workouts for bodybuilding

Good luck
If you make yourself look taller, your odds of winning strongman contests are greatly improved, of course. What are your lifts on the big three? You look fairly muscular now, at 180 you should be pretty filled out and jacked.

the problems you may face are all size related really, as far as I can see. Stones, I can imagine at some sizes might not be so easy with short arms but then just get stronger Bro, scre it.
You can shoulder stones but at some point the platforms my get to high. I've seem platforms almost as tall as me and I'm 6 feet tall. I'm not sure if thats the norm, i've not done a comp yet.
Bro have at it, screw it!

Shortest champion strongman i've seen is Michael Starov at 5'11 claimed height.
Raynes is 5 5

How old is that vid? DW has definitely come a long way since the first vids of him I saw. He's headed in the right direction and has a ton of heart (And is very resistant to injury apparently). But yeah, he's 5'5" and like 165-170. I think he just wants to get to 175 and just keep adding strength with little/no scale weight. At least, it'd make sense if he wants to compete in the lowest weight class.
My posts and reps were mysteriously wiped and never returned... WTF?

Holy Tren Acetate batman. Angelo's back. I though someone locked you in the bathroom at some rib joint during your bulk or something!
He never won a world championship like starov though. Theres alot of guys under his height that compete but none are champions. I think shorter guys have alot better chance at winning at powerlifting than strongman, like stumpy proved, although im impressed with his strongman results too.
He lied about the tire weight, the one he used was 500 lbs... frame carry was not 700 lbs... what a ****
RIP JESSE MARUNDE. YOU WILL BE MISSED
