Wrestler confronted with Back Injury, what to do?
Well, about a month ago i hurt my back and have just recently found out that i have a pinched sciatic (sp) nerve, its located right at the top of your butt, close to your lower back. Im no longer able to train with weights, which is a problem becuase I wrestle. I cant wrestle either with this but I dont wanna just sit around the house like a blob while this is getting better. So does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to keep myself moving, just to keep me in the routine of working out. I was told it could take up to 6 months for this to heal and I dont wanna be sitten around that long. Any help would be appriceated, thanks.

That is a common injury for wrestlers, it happened to several of my students. They worked some technique during that time, light stuff, but for the most part the best thing you can do is follow the doctors orders. I know no one likes to hear that, but if he said lay off for six months then do so. My fighters did however do light stuff, practiced some moves, ran, etc, but nothing stressful and certainly no lifting or actual grappling.

I do not make threats, and I will kill you if you imply otherwise.
Goth until the day I die.

I figured i would just do some seated biking at the gym since thats not really stressfull on my back and do some core exercises with just bodyweight. Light things to keep me in the motion of having a routine to keep to.
